Commodore 64
Der Commodore 64 ist ein 8-Bit-PC, der im Januar 1982 von Commodore International eingeführt wurde. Er ist im Guinness World Records als das meistverkaufte Computermodell aller Zeiten verzeichnet, wobei unabhängige Schätzungen die Zahl der verkauften Einheiten auf 17 bis 25 Millionen setzen. Die Produktion begann Anfang 1982 und wurde im August für 595 US-Dollar vermarktet (das entspricht 1461 US-Dollar im Jahr 2015). Der C64, dem der Commodore VIC-20 und der Commodore PET vorangestellt sind, Er wählt seinen Namen aus seinem 64 Kilobytes (65536 Bytes) RAM. Er verfügte über höhere akustische und graphische Spezifikationen als andere frühere Systeme wie Apple II und Atari 800 mit bunten Sprite und einem fortgeschritteneren Schallprozessor.
C64 erbt CBM-Maschinen und VIC-20 und verwendet einen programmierbaren Benutzerport (6522) und einen proprietären seriellen Port, der nach einem IEEE-488-Prinzip arbeitet und Peripheriegeräte, insbesondere eine oder mehrere5,25 -Disketten 1540 (VIC-20-Diskettenlaufwerk), 1541 und 1542.
Es gab ein tragbares Modell mit integriertem Diskettenlaufwerk und Bildschirm, aber ohne Kassettenlaufwerk.
