The King of Fighters, oficialmente abreviado KOF, é uma série de jogos de luta pela SNK Playmore, anteriormente SNK. A série foi originalmente desenvolvido para hardware de arcade Neo-Geo MVS da SNK, que serviu como plataforma principal para a série até 2004, quando SNK aposentou as MVS em favor da placa de arcade Atomiswave e vai passar a série para o X2 Taito Tipo com o liberação de The king of Fighters XII. Portos dos jogos de arcade e original O rei dos jogos Fighters foram liberados para o Geo CD Neo, Neo Geo Pocket Game Boy e Game Boy Advance, N-Gage, Sega Saturn e Sega Dreamcast, PlayStation e PlayStation 2, PC, e Xbox. Um dos jogos mais recente na série são KOF: Série Maximum Impact.
