El rey de los combatientes, oficialmente abreviado KOF, es una serie de juegos de lucha de SNK Playmore, SNK anteriormente. La serie fue desarrollado originalmente para el hardware de arcade Neo-Geo MVS de SNK, que sirvió como la principal plataforma de la serie hasta 2004, cuando SNK retiró a los MVS en favor de la tabla de arcade Atomiswave y se moverá la serie al X2 Taito Type con el la liberación de The king of Fighters XII.
