Después de una larga batalla contra el Gnasty Gnorc, Spyro el dragón y su amigo, Sparx la libélula, necesita unas vacaciones. Ha habido lluvia constante en la tierra de Spyro, por lo que un viaje a la soleada Dragón Shores es sólo lo que los dos necesitan. Por desgracia, Spyro y Sparx simplemente parece que no puede tomar un descanso. Del mismo modo que dejan de Dragon Shores, se encuentran girando a través de un portal en la tierra de Avalar.
