2042, la Terre subit une invasion extraterrestre. La résistance humaine est rapidement dépassée par la puissance de feu de l'envahisseur. Néanmoins, des scientifiques ont pu étudier les armes extraterrestres et monter le projet "Metal Black" : équiper des vaisseaux humains de la technologie ennemie. 10 ans après l'invasion, les ressources naturelles de la Terre s'épuisent et la population humaine diminue.
