Genesis-Besitzer, die die ersten drei Thunder Force Spiele erinnern kann sich fragen, was mit dem vierten geschah (und letzte 16-Bit) Titel in der Serie. Hier in den Staaten war das Spiel (aus unbekannten Gründen) genannt Blitz Kraft. Nun trifft das fünfte Spiel in der Serie die PlayStation. Genau wie in den vier vorherigen Spielen, Thunder Force V: Perfect System ist ein Side-Scrolling-Shooter in der Tradition von R-Type und Gradius.
