The legendary ax runs in a distant land, where its inhabitants are under the control of the cult of Jagu. The cult, which routinely plunders the countryside, is led by a half-man half-beast named Jagu. The protagonist of the game, Gogan, lives in the village of Minofu, who must sacrifice a person each year, in human sacrifice. Gogan had gone to an isolated village to study the war when he discovered that his childhood friend, Flare, had been chosen by the Jagu as an annual sacrifice. Back in Minofu, he discovers that she has already been taken by the Jagu to "Evil Place" in the mountains. The village elders give Gogan the legendary ax called "Sting", which gives him great strength to fight the evil cult.
