“Corpse Party: Sweet Sachiko’s Hysteric Birthday Bash”, released in Japan under the title “Corpse Party -THE ANTHOLOGY- Sachiko no Ren'ai Y?gi ? Hysteric Birthday 2U'', is a romantic comedy spin-off of the Corpse Party survival horror adventure games created by Team GrisGris. The game was originally released in Japan on August 2, 2012 for Sony’s “PlayStation Portable” handheld gaming system, but was later localized in English for PC by XSEED Games and released in North America and Europe on April 10, 2019.

The game takes place during Sachiko Shinozaki's birthday, and to celebrate it Sachiko wants to play a series of games with the various students who found themselves trapped inside the otherworldly Heavenly Host Elementary School. The students are forced to play Sachiko’s games to entertain her, many of them having dire consequences for those who fail to live up to each challenge. As Hysteric Birthday Bash's tagline adequately puts it, "Do a romantic comedy or DIE?"

“Corpse Party: Sweet Sachiko’s Hysteric Birthday Bash”, much like “Corpse Party: Book of Shadows” before it, is a visual novel game where the player needs to choose prompts given to them at various points throughout in order to influence the characters’ actions and progress through the game’s 9 different story arcs. With a full 24 hours to celebrate the event, there will be plenty of crazy shenanigans that every student will be put through before Sachiko’s birthday eventually comes to an end. But perhaps all the students being forced to participate in Sachiko’s games will find plenty of opportunities to make happy memories not just for Sachiko, but for themselves as well – when they’re not too busy focusing on the sheer absurdity that is being thrown their way constantly, that is.
