I will not discuss any happenings of the plot, but there will be location spoilers and boss name spoilers in this Walkthrough. ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~ Section 1: Introduction Controls The Switch Command Exploring the World and Field Maps The Encounter Gauge Elements and Elemental Extraction The Battle System Section 2: Basics Section 3: Walkthrough Section 4: Reference Key Items Mana Items Alchemy Items Section 5: The Dragon's Nest Section 6: Lithographs Section 7: Conclusion ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~ Thank you for choosing my Atelier Iris 2 Guide! This guide is meant to take an in-depth look at Atelier Iris 2, walking you step by step through each event as the game progresses. There will be no spoilers of the events, I will just say "watch a scene," and whatnot. I like to keep my guides as spoiler free as possible so that my readers can enjoy the stroy at their own pace. I highly suggest looking over the basics section before you begin. There's a lot of things to learn about Atelier Iris 2. The game has many new features compared with other RPGs, and it is best to learn them before you begin. Also note: ~THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT~ Your game will glitch up and you will be unable to continue if you do not create the item "Flay Hammer" before Chapter 20. So make sure that you create this item as soon as possible. It is important to avoid this glitch! Also, as always, if you have read my guides in the past, I thank you for choosing my writing again. If this is your first time reading one of my guides, Thank you, and I hope you enjoy my work. ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~ ^~^ Basics ^~^ ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~ ============================= Controls: ============================= This section is for the controls of this game. The directional buttons move your characters through the screens, and the up and down buttons move the cursor on the menu screen. ---------------------------------------------------------------- X Button | The "Confirm" button, allows you to enter areas. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Triangle | Opens the menu screen, and on the menu screen changes the view. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Square | Allows you to scroll quickly, and allows for Element Extraction. ---------------------------------------------------------------- O Button | This button "cancels" commands, and allows you to Jump. ---------------------------------------------------------------- L1/R1/R2/L2| These buttons have no effect. ---------------------------------------------------------------- ============================= The 'Switch' Command: ============================= After a certain point of the game, you gain the ability to switch characters. You can only switch characters from a Save Point, using the 'Switch' command found at the top area. Only one of the two characters you can control can use Alchemy abilities, so you'll find yourself switching back and forth quite often when obtaining new items and going to new areas. It is reccommended that you switch characters after each major area, so that you see if you can create any new items. ============================= Exploring the World and Field Maps: ============================= The World Map of Atelier Iris 2 is a very basic thing. There are no encounters on the world map. Just move the cursor that looks like your character over where you want to go and you'll move there. Press the X button again and you'll enter the area. Note that areas of the World Map are not opened up until you have learned about them, have learned your next destination, or have left an area through a specific exit. The "Field" screen is the definition of any screen, dungeon, town, or other area that is not the World Map. Certain items can be destroyed on the field map. When you see a large rock, an out of place plant, or a strange crystal, press the Square button to destroy it to obtain 'Elements.' These items can usually be "Harvested" once you have created the appropriate item through Alchemy. These items include Wonder Grow, Yugdore Water, Fairy Tea, or the Flay Hammer. In the field you have the ability to "Jump" with the Circle button. This ability allows you to reach surprisingly high levels that you could not walk to normally. Try jumping onto anything you see to reach new areas. In the field screen you'll randomly see a little "X" button above your head. This is the search button, and when you press it, you'll either get a message about the surrounding area, or you'll Open a Chest in your vicinity. Also, when you approach a NPC (Non-Playable Character) you can "speak" to them to obtain information about your surroundings or where to go. Also in the Field screen you'll encounter something called the "Camp Circle." This is also known as a "Save Point." These Save Points will completely recover your HP, but if you are in a dungeon, they will also cause every enemy in the area to regenerate. As the game progresses, you gain more and more abilities through your Camp Circle. Also at the Save Point, you can save your game, load your game, and switch characters after a certain point. ============================= The Encounter Gauge: ============================= In dungeon areas, you will find something at the lower right of your screen. This color changing object is called the "Encounter Gauge." Each encounter you fight through lowers the gauge slightly. The gauge goes down different sizes differently depending on the area you are in. Some areas only take 2 encounters to clear the guage, but others take more than 20 to clear! You can tell how close to an encounter you are by the color of the guage. At the color Blue, you are not going to get into an encounter, yet when you're at Red, and encounter will ensue any moment! Green and Yellow are the middle portions. Blue - Safe Green - Closer Yellow - Encounters Possible Red - Encounter Anytime ============================= Elements and Elemental Extraction: ============================= Elements are a very important part of Atelier Iris 2. There are many different types of Elements in this game, and every enemy and destructable item in the game will give you Elements. When you destroy an item in the field, be it a rock, a crystal, a stone, a plant, a bush, or any other type of item, you will receive a set number of items. The Elements are -in the order they are on the menu screen- Fire, Air, Water, Lightning, Dark Stone, Wood, Life, Illusion, Sound Aroma, Poison, Metal Elements are used in this game to create items through Alchemy that have been "Initialized." These items are also called "Mana Items." These items can not be created through the use of Mana until you have created them with items originally, but once you have, you can go into your Items Menu at any time, select Mana Item, and use "Mana Synthesis" to create the item. If you don't have enough elements to create the item through Synthesis, the game gives you an error. You will need to extract some more from enemies (by Defeating them with Felt or Viese) or by an item that gives you specific elements. There are crystal types for every Element. The only purpose of these "Crystals" is to be destroyed and give you elements, so do so whenever you see one! You can tell what type of Crystallized element it is by the color of the crystal. Note that Sound and Air elements look somewhat alike, as they are both a light green-blue color, except that Sound is a bit darker than Air. At the start of the game, you'll only find a few base elements, probably Stone, Fire, Wood, Aroma, and Water often. But as the game progresses you'll begin to find Air (rare early on), Dark, and Lightning more and more often. Important: LIFE ELEMENTS ARE ALWAYS RARE. There is a limited number of Life Balls out there, and no Life Crystals. There are certain enemies very late in the game that you can get the elements from, but encountering them can be a pain. Save your Life Elements when you have them! ============================= The Battle System: ============================= Atelier Iris 2 runs on a fast paced, yet a limited battle system somewhat like the system of the original Grandia. There is a bar on the top left of the screen. This is the time bar. When you reach the far right side of this bar, your character gets a turn. But also, when the enemy reaches the far side of this bar, they get a turn as well. Thegauge on the far right of the screen is called the Skill gauge. The higher this gauge gets, the more you will be able to use skills. You need to balance the usage of this gauge, as everyone has to share it. This gauge resets to 1 after every battle ends. There are commands that can help delay the enemy turns, but that will be described below. The commands on your Battle screen that looks like this: Charge Attack Break Attack Item Skills Mana Synthesis (Felt and Viese ONLY) Defend Run Change (Only after a certain event) A "Charge Attack" is your basic attack ability. When you use this ability, that gauge in the upper right corner of the screen that starts at level 1 (you can tell what level it is by the large number by it) starts to rise. This Gauge, the Skill Gauge, allows you to use skills. Therefore, when you use a Charge Attack you can use Skills more often. A "Break Attack" is another type of attack. When you watch the bar on the top of the screen after a break attack, the enemy you targeted will be pushed back, and therefore, his attack will be delated. Note that when you use a Break Attack, the Skill Guage will not raise. You need to learn how to balance your Break Attacks and your Charge Attacks to be successful in this game. Using the Item Command will allow you to use any current Mana Items you have in your inventory. Note however that this is limited to Mana Items, and nothing else. The Skills Command is a bit different. You learn more skills as the game progresses, so as the game begins, the command is rather empty. You can not use certain skills until your "Skill Gauge" (in the upper right corner) has filled past the amount necessary. Basic skills like "Mana Strike" only take one level of your gauge to use, but more advanced skills take two or three levels to use. The Mana Synthesis command is a command that only Felt and Viese can use. Once a Mana Item has been created through Alchemy, you will have the ability to create it in battle instantly and use it. If you run out of elements, however, you will be unable to create the item. The Defend command allows you to take less damage from attacks, and also helps you avoid attacks more often. This is a good command for when you have low HP. The Run command allows you to flee from battle, but it does not work all the time. The Change command is only used after a certain point of the game. It allows you to change characters in battle instantly. Dead characters can not be switched into battle. Note that if you use Break attacks on a single enemy enough, they'll reach that Orange area on the far left of the guage. This is called the "Break Area." In here, the enemy is "Broken" and they are shocked, unable to move. Their gauge will move slowly towards you. If you attack an enemy in this area, you will gain bonus points after the battle. You gain experience, skill points (after a certain point), and Cole (the games "Gold") after the battle is complete. As stated above, you gain more than normal if you attack and enemy while in break status, and keep comboing it with more and more damage. You also may gain items after the battle, if you were lucky enough to win one from the enemy. ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~ ^~^ Walkthrough ^~^ ^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^ Episode 1: Eden ^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ You are immediately thrust into a battle. You only control ???, but she is strong alone. Switch to "Break Attack" and constantly hit him back so you don't take damage. After this first battle, another immediately starts. This time, you have access to "Skills." Choose skills, and have your character use Force Blast, which will end the battle and begin the game. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Eden - Alchemic City Noir ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Characters: Viese Key Items: Share Ring, Alchemy 101 Items: Pure Waterx5 Mana Items: None As the game begins, you gain control of Viese. Head down the screen, and speak with Lutanus for another short scene. She gives you the ALCHEMY 101. This item allows you to create the Heal Herb and Fear Bottle through Alchemy. Exit the area. You are automatically brought to the city. You can explore a bit, but there's not a lot you can do at this point. I suggest buying the DOWSING GUIDE from Yach for 100 Cole. This item allows you to create the item, Pendulum. There's not much else you can afford at this point, so just speak with whoever you wish, and enter your house on the northern screen. After a short scene in your house, head upstairs. Examine the sink and you'll obtain 5 PURE WATERs. Now, head out of your house. The exit of the city is to the far south. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Belkhyde Gate ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Characters: Viese, Felt Key Items: None Items: None Mana Items: Wood Crystal x2 (+16 Wood), Bush x3 (+10 Water, +10 Wood), Water Crystal (+16 Water) Watch the short scene. This is your first chance to get some Elemental items. There are 2 "Wood Crystals" in this area. These items give you Mana when you destroy them. Your limit for Mana of any given element is 99, unfortunately, so it is not worth it going any higher than that, as you are just wasting the items. To destroy these items and get the mana, press the Square Button. Also note that there are three bushes at the far side of the screen that give you 10 Water Mana and 10 Wood Mana when you destroy them. After these are clear, you can jump to the upper level and break the Water Crystal for some Water Mana. Note: Elemental items, and normal Mana items as well (as long as they are not in chests) regenerate once you leave an area, so if you are in need of a specific item, you can keep returning to an area to get it once you've left and returned. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Marmel Forest ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Characters: Viese, Felt Key Items: Wood Gem Items: Mini-Pendelook, Nue, Magi Grass x2, Magi Grass x2 Mana Items: Wood Crystal x2 (+16 Wood), Aroma Crystal x2 (+16 Aroma), Water Crystal x2 (+16 Water), Plant x9 (+4 Wood, +4 Water) Note: There's some weird translation here. The place is named Marmel forest in-game, but when it appears on the map initially, and in the spoken dialogue, it is said as "Malmel Forest." They are the same location, so don't worry about it too much. Follow the path through the forest, and you'll eventually see a chest to the north. Open it up and you'll receive a MINI-PENDELOOK. There are two little "bags" on the ground to the right of this. These are Mana items and will regenerate when you leave the area. These contain a NUE, and MAGI GRASS x2. Continue right down the path, and destroy the Wood Crystal for some elements. Continue down the path, and you'll encounter quite a few more Crystalized Elements. These new yellow ones are Aroma elements. Also, since you can't do anything else with the plants, destroy them, and you'll recieve some Wood and Water elements for your collection. You should be full, or at least almost full on your Wood element collection at this point. Remember that the cap is 99. Continue north up the path until a scene plays. Now, press X by the sword for another scene. Continue up the path when you regain control and pick up the MAGI GRASS x2 on the ground. At the intersection, head right, and you'll find 6 Plants. There's nothing you can do with these now but destroy them for elements. Head back to the intersection and take the left fork to reach the next screen. Watch a scene. You receive the WOOD GEM, and you are now allowed to synthesize, because you have access to the Wood Mana. There's nothing else to do here, so head back left and exit the screen. Now, head back to the left after the scenes, and continue left at the intersection. Watch another scene. Examine the Sword (with the X button) in the ground for another scene. Follow the path back left (the Crystals have regenerated if you need the Elements still) and exit the Forest. Enter the Eden Temple. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Eden Temple ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Characters: Viese, Felt Key Items: None Items: Heal Herb - Synthesis Mana Items: Stone Crystal x2 (+16 Stone) Note: You can find two Stone Crystals in the Eden Temple if you take a right immediately. Shatter the crystals for +16 Stone Mana each. Inside the Eden Temple, head up into the building. Watch a scene. Now, exit the Eden Temple. Immediately head to the Belkhyde Gate to the south for a scene. After the scenes, you gain control of Viese in Noir. Controlling Viese, examine the synthesis pot, and out of the three items you can probably create at this time, the only one you will be able to do successfully is the Heal Herb. Select this item, use a Magi Grass (found in Marmel Forest) and a Pure Water (Found in the upstairs sink in your house). Only Synthesize one at first, do not waste any more items than necessary. After a short scene, you'll have created a Heal Herb. You can create Heal Herbs anytime from your inventory menu, as long as you have the proper amount of Elements to do such. This is because Viese used a special process of "Initialization" on them. Not every item can become "Initialized," but most healing items, and items you will use over and over again can be. I suggest Synthesizing at least a few Heal Herbs from the menu (using the "Mana Synthesis" command) at this point, since they only cost a single Wood Element to create. Exit Viese's house, and watch a short scene. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^ Episode 2: Belkhyde, the Other World ^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ The Desert ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Characters: Felt Enemies: Armadillo, Red Puni Bosses: None Key Items: None Items: Gradin Cape, Red Legien x2, Dem Ore x3, Aihie Fungo Mana Items: Brown Rock x2 (+3 Metal, +5 Stone), White Rock (+3 Metal, +2 Lightning), Plant x4 (+4 Wood, +4 Water) You start this Episode off in the middle of a dungeon. Open the chest just below you for a GRADIN CAPE. Equip it immediately, and head left for a scene. You are forced into a battle with an Armadillo. This is one on one, so hit it with Break Attacks and your special ability, Mana Strike, to kill it off quickly. There are a few new things to notice at this point. See the gauge at the lower left hand corner of the screen? This is your encounter Gauge. The higher this is, the more encounters that there are on the screen. If this is empty, there are no more enemies to kill in the area. You will also start with random encounters at this point. Continue left into the next area for another short scene. Felt can now use the same Mana Synthesis command that Viese was able to use to create the Heal Herbs. But remember, this is only on "Initialized" items. Continue left, and Shatter the rock for some elements. Now, fall down to the lower level by going south, and continue south until the path starts heading left. Pick up the RED LEGIEN x2. Continue up to the intersection, picking up the DEM ORE x3, and take a right. There are four plants over here to destroy for Mana. Head back to the intersection, and go left and watch another scene. When you regain control, head south and open the chest for an AIHIE FUNGO. Continue left down the path until it tilts north. At the intersection, go right and jump (with the O button) up the ledge. Up here, there are two Rocks to destroy for some Elements. Now go back to the intersection and continue left until you reach another intersection. Head down here, and pick up the MAGI GRASS x2. Keep heading left until you reach the exit. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ The Oasis ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Characters: Felt, Noin Enemies: Armadillo, Red Puni Bosses: None Key Items: None Items: Red Legien x2, Foul Water Mana Items: Plant x4 (+4 Wood, +4 Water), Red Rock x2 (+6 Fire, +3 Metal), Yellow Rock (+5 Stone, +3 Metal), Barrel (+3 Wood) Enter the Oasis and watch the scene. You regain control in your tent. Speak with the girl, and try to exit the tent. Noin joins your party. Exit the Tent. This is a small area. The glowing area is a Save Point, which allows you to restore your HP and enter the tent, so that you can save your game. Note that every enemy in the level will regernate if you enter the Tent, so be careful when using this feature. Head south and pick up the RED LEGIEN x2. Head over to the right, and press the X button by the Barrel to obtain some FOUL WATER. Break the rocks over here for some Elements, and head all the way to the northwestern corner of the area to exit. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Tatalia Village ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Characters: Felt, Noin Key Items: None Items: Ancient Mask, Phoenix Quill, Pure Water, Foul Water, Foul Water, Tatalia Cotton, Spoiled Meat Mana Items: Barrel (+3 Wood), White Rock (+2 Lightning, +3 Metal), Red Rock x2 (+6 Fire, +3 Metal), Yellow Rock (+5 Stone, +3 Metal), Box (+3 Wood) Tatalia is a rather large area with no random encounters. Head into the main village, and enter the first tent on the left. There are two chests in here, they contain an ANCIENT MASK and a PHOENIX QUILL. Exit the tent. If you examine the well at the center of the town, you'll receive some PURE WATER. Now, head to the far north side of the town, and examine the two Barrels up here, for a FOUL WATER from each barrel. Speak to the girl in the northern corner of town. Her name is Mitsue. Watch a scene. You probably won't be able to afford much from her now, but she will be useful later on. You'll fine a Yellow Rock in the northwest of the area for a few elements, as well as a Barrel behind the tent. There are also two more rocks in the southeastern corner of the town. Also in the southeastern corner is a chest containing some TATALIA COTTON. Behind the large green tent in the north of the town, you can obtain some SPOILED MEAT from the barrel. After getting these items, enter the large green tent for a scene. When you're ready, exit the town the same way you entered. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Desert Fork ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Characters: Felt, Noin Enemies: Salamander, Armadillo, Red Puni Bosses: None Key Items: None Items: None Mana Items: White Rock (+2 Lightning, +3 Metal), Red Rock (+6 Fire, +3 Metal), Brown Rock (+3 Metal, +5 Stone) This is not the dungeon we are looking for, but rather, a mini-dungeon on the way to our dungeon. Follow the path right until you reach a save point, and a four way intersection. Follow the south path all the way down, you'll find two rocks for some elemental extraction. This south path leads to an area you will visit later called the Great Desert. It is nice to open up for now, though. Head back up to the intersection, and take the far right fork. This fork leads you to a Brown Rock, and to the lower level. Once again, this fork allows you to access an area you will visit later, but you can not get too far into, called Regenbogen. Head back to the intersection and take the north path. This opens up the way to our destination, the Desert Ruins. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Desert Ruins ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Characters: Felt, Noin Enemies: Salamander, Fungo, Armadillo, Ghost, Red Puni Bosses: Imperial Footman x2, Imperial Soldier Key Items: Weapon Guide Items: Dem Ore, Spoiled Meat x3, Faux Puniball x2, Old Magi Grass x2, Faux Puniball, Aihie Fungo, Pure Water, Pure Water, Niv Tiara Mana Items: Box x11 (+3 Wood), Barrel x8 (+3 Wood) Watch the scene as you enter. Enter the ruins themselves. This will be your first dungeon. Follow the path and pick up the DEM ORE on the ground. Jump up (O Button) to the upper level and follow the path to the right. Jump up the next set up of stairs above you, and you'll find 8 boxes up here. Examine them, and you'll get SPOILED MEAT x3, FAUX PUNIBALL x2, OLD MAGI GRASS x2,and another FAUX PUNIBALL. Destroy the rest for some Elements. head back to the intersection and continue right. Soon, you'll reach another intersection, this one is a 4-way. There's a box to destroy if you continue along the path. Take the upper left path and you'll find a side room. There are 3 Barrels in here, as well as a chest containing an AIHIE FUNGO. Exit the room and head back to the intersection. Take the lower right path and follow it until you reach another intersection. This time, continue down the screen all the way, and you'll reach (guess what?) another intersection. To the right are two barrels, each of which contain some PURE WATER. Continue down the screen all the way and head up the stairs. There's a few more Barrels and Boxes up here, as well as a chest. The chest holds a NIV TIARA, which is just perfect to equip. Head back two intersections, and take the right path. You'll find a save point. Save your game if necessary. Continue right and through the far door. ****************************************************** Boss: Imperial Footman x2, Imperial Soldier Experience: 406 Skill: None Items: Gradin Cape Cole: 250 After a short scene, the true boss battle begins. You are facing off against two Imperial Footmen and an Imperial Soldier. The enemies get the first attack on you in this battle, unfortunately. The Soldier probably end up doing around 15 damage a hit to your characters, while the Footmen will end up doing 10 damage each. Keep your HP over 40 at all times, and when it gets lower than that, heal yourself with a Heal Herb from your inventory. Noin also has the ability to heal your party through her own special ability, if both of your characters are getting low in health. Use Charge attacks only when there are three enemies left in the battle. That way, you can have Noin use Force Blast on two of the three enemies, while Felt continues using a normal Charge attack, or Mana Wave if you end up with two levels of Force power after a few rounds of battle. Avoid using the Break Attack command until there is only one enemy left, and then use ONLY the break command, so that you can keep the enemy from damaging you as long as possible. As your first boss battle, this is not meant to be challenging, but it is also meant to show you how to fight the bosses of the game. ****************************************************** Head right and watch a scene. Open the chest near you and you receive the WEAPON GUIDE, which allows you to create a Craft as Viese later on. Watch a scene, and approach the left side of the screen for another scene. On your way out of the ruins, you'll encounter a new type of enemy, a Ghost. This type of enemy is unkillavle by normal means. Felt's Azure Azoth's normal attacks will be able to damage them, but Noin (or any other character's) normal attacks will always do no damage. Instead, have your other characters use their special attacks. In this case, have Noin use Force Blast to allow her to damage the enemies. Head back to the exit of the area (bottom left corner of the area) and head back to Tatalia Village. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Tatalia Village - Desert Fork ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Characters: Felt, Noin Key Items: None Items: Ancient Mask, Phoenix Quill, Pure Water, Foul Water, Foul Water, Tatalia Cotton, Spoiled Meat Mana Items: Barrel (+3 Wood), White Rock (+2 Lightning, +3 Metal), Red Rock x2 (+6 Fire, +3 Metal), Yellow Rock (+5 Stone, +3 Metal), Box (+3 Wood) Immediately head to the large green tent at the top of the town. Watch a scene in here. Exit Tatalia Village, and head to the Desert Fork, where a scene plays out. Head to the Save Point to continue the game. Speak with Noin and then try to exit the Tent, and examine the Save Book. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^ Episode 3: The Share Ring ^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Eden ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Characters: Viese Key Items: Library Pass, Petroglyph Manual, Alchemic Econ, Metal Gem Items: Pure Water x5 Mana Items: Metal Crystal x3 (+16 Metal), Green Rock x2 (+3 Stone, +5 Metal), Metal Ball (+50 Metal) Your control is changed over to Viese automatically. Note that Viese has no items or elements on her at the moment. Exit her house for a scene. Head off the screen, and all the way out of Noir. Enter the Eden Temple, and head into the indoor area. Enter the first door you see above you, and you'll find it to be locked. Speak with Kreuz, and head back to Noir town. In Noir again, approach Yach's shop for a scene. Lutanus gives you the LIBRARY PASS. Head back to the Eden Temple and enter the Library. In the library, examine the bookshelf closest to the door. You recieve the PETROGLYPH MANUAL. Exit the library and head out of the Temple for another scene. Head back to Viese's house in Noir for another scene. When you regain control, exit Noir once again, but this time, head to the Great Cave, which is north of Noir. In here, watch the scene. Follow the path until you reach an intersection, and take the left. Follow this path up to get some Metal elements, and soon you'll change the screen. There's a rare Ball of Elements up here that will give you +50 to your Metal Elemental count if you destroy it. Also, you'll find a stone tablet that you can't quite read yet, but it's good to know that it's there. Head back to the previous screen, and go back to the intersection. Head up the path to the next screen. Here follow the path to the intersection, in which you should take a left. Up here, break the crystal and the rock for some elements, and open the chest for the key item ALCHEMIC ECON, which allows you to create Alchemist Medals. Continue along the path to the right and you'll see a scene. Speak to the girl for a scene. Continue down the path and speak to the Mana. You recieve the METAL GEM. Head back to Noir and enter Viese's house. At this point, Felt and Viese share items and elements. What Viese creates, Felt has access to. And what items Felt wins in battle or finds in chests or on the ground, Viese has access to. Immediately open the menu to trigger a new scene. Now that we have access to Felt's items, let's use the Alchemy Pot. At this point, you should immediately be able to use a Nue and the Mana Dour to create a CRAFT. After creating the Craft, watch a scene. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^ Episode 4: Infiltrating Risevelt ^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Eden ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Characters: Felt, Noin - Viese Read Viese's letter. Also, at this point you can use the Switch characters command. You can switch between Viese and Felt at any time as long as you are at a save point. Now, immediately switch back over to Viese. You should be able to create one more item at this point, the ALCHEMIST MEDAL. Use a Red Legien to create one or two of them, as you will be using them later on. Now, exit Viese's house and watch a short scene with Meila. Enter Viese's house for now, and change back to Felt. That's all we can do at this point. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ West Regenbogen ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Characters: Felt, Noin Key Items: None Items: Super Nue, Spoiled Meat x2, Spoiled Meat, Magi Grass x3, Spoiled Meat Mana Items: Barrel x6 (+3 Wood), Box x3 (+3 Wood) Controlling Felt, try to exit the Tent for a scene. You're still in the Desert Fork. Exit the Desert fork through the Eastern (right)path the Intersection to open the path up to the next area. Note: At this point, you can visit a, for now, optional area. It is a good place to get experience and some money if you want to. I will cover the area later on in the guide, but it is called the Great Desert. Expect to use a lot of items as you enter there for the first time, as the enemies will be very strong compared to you. Another Note: Try to scrounge up 4,000 Cole before continuing with the game. There's an item you can buy in the next town that is that expensive. Though it is a lot of Cole, you need to buy the item immediately. If you can't it is perfectly fine to wait until later in the game though. As you enter the area, watch a scene. Head right across the screen and speak to the guard. After the scene, head right onto the next screen. Follow the path right, and you'll see an intersection. There are only a few boxes and a chest for later up the top path, so continue right. Watch the bottom of the screen and you'll see a ladder going down. Jump to the wall and climb the ladder down. There's a chest down here that contains a SUPER NUE. Continue right onto the next screen. Here, you'll find an intersection. Head south down it, and examine the boxes at the end. You'll recieve a SPOILED MEAT x2, another SPOILED MEAT,MAGI GRASS x3, and a final SPOILED MEAT by examining the boxes. Head back up to the intersection and exit the bridge. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Back Alley - Central Park - Riese Palace ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Characters: Felt, Noin Key Items: None Items: None Enter the Back Alley. There's two doors in the alley. The door on the far right leads to a shop. In here, you can buy the item "Geology" for the huge amount of 4,000 Cole. You don't really need it now though. After this series of events, you'll have a bit more cole, so you can wait until then you buy it. Enter the central set of doors and you'll find the bar. Speak to the woman behind the counter, the Bartender. After a scene in here, speak with the Bartender again. She has the rare item "Book of Infinia" if you can afford this as well. It's doubtful you have that much money, but it's good to know where the item is. Exit the Back Alley. Two new areas have opened up. First, enter the Central Park. Watch a scene in here. Exit after this short scene, as there is nothing else left to do. Now, enter the Riese Palace and watch a scene. Our next goal is clear to us now. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Entering the Great Lighthouse ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Characters: Felt, Noin - Viese Key Items: Garden Book, Aqua Gem Items: Mini Pendelook, Magi Grass x4, Magi Grass x3, Magic Grass x2, Huffin x2, Huffin, Huffin, Huffin x2, Huffin x2, Huffin x2, Huffin x3 Mana Items: Wood Crystal x2 (+16 Wood), Aroma Crystal x2 (+16 Aroma), Water Crystal x2 (+16 Water) Plant x9 (+4 Wood, +4 Water) Enter the Lighthouse for a scene. Exit after the scene and head back into Central Park. If you entered earlier, you saw a scene with the child. Speak with the child at the center of the park, and he tells you the secret way to enter the Lighthouse IF you can bring him a flower. Now, head back to the Back Alley and enter the save point. Switch characters to Viese. Controlling Viese, read the letter and exit your house. Head towards the exit of Noir for a short scene. Exit Noir town and enter The Eden Temple. In the Temple, head to the Library for a scene. You receive the GARDEN BOOK. This allows you to create Wonder Grow and Huffin Water. Head back to Viese's house in Noir. Examine her alchemy pot and choose to create a single Wonder Grow. There's no need to create more than one, as Viese will Initialize it, and both she and Felt will be able to create more using your elements once it has been created initially. Watch a scene after it has been created. Meila gives you a MINI PENDELOOK for your efforts. As you try and exit the house, Dour shows up for another scene. He tells you about Nymph. Make sure you have some Pure Water (you can get it from the Sink upstairs in Viese's house if you do not) and then head over to Marmel Forest. In Marmel Forest, create some Wonder Grow from your Menu through Mana Synthesis. 5-10 would be perfect. With Wonder Grow in your possession, you can cause the plants to grow from small into random items. Follow the forest until you reach your first two plants. Use Wonder Grow on them to receive MAGI GRASS x3 and some MAGI GRASS x4. Speak with Nymph, and give her a Pure Water (you probably will have one if you check your sink upstairs everything you play as Viese) and she will join you as your third Mana. You obtain the AQUA GEM. Use the Wonder Grow on the third plant for 2 MAGI GRASS. Continue right through the forest until you reach the intersection, in which you should head down. There are 7 plants to use Wonder Grow on down here. You will get HUFFIN x2, a HUFFIN, HUFFIN, HUFFIN x2, HUFFIN x2, HUFFIN x2, and finally HUFFIN x3 for using Wonder Grow on all of these. Now, head back to Noir and enter Viese's house. You automatically switch back to Felt. But, I suggest switching back to Viese for a moment. Since you have access to Nymph now, you can create some new items with Alchemy. First, let's create some Huffin Water. This requires some Huffin (which we just got quite a few of from Marmel Forest. If you need more, just use Wonder Grow on the flowers there) and a Pure Water, which you can find 5 of in the Sink upstairs in Viese's house. Synthesize only one, because after creation, Viese will Initialize the item. Now, immediately create another one of these Huffin Waters through Mana Synthesis. Now, choose "Fear Bottle." This item requires some Spoiled Meat (found in boxes and barrels found in dungeons and towns throughout the game) and one of your new Huffin Waters. Viese Initializes this as well. Note that with Huffin Water and Wonder Grow created, you can create some Holy Evergreen. Use Huffin Water (of a Huffin) as the first ingredient, and then create the item. Switch back to Felt and head back to Central Park. Give one of your newely obtained Huffin to the boy. This opens a path to the Sewer. Now we can finally continue the game. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Sewer ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Characters: Felt, Noin Enemies: Ghost, Banshee, Red Puni, Puni, Brownie Bosses: None Key Items: Veek Tactics Items: Moon Stone x3, 200 Cole, Red Legien x2, Old Magi Grass x3, Pure Water, Ancient Mask, Magi Grass x3, Wax x2 Mana Items: Barrel x4 (+3 Wood), Box (+3 Wood) Note: Like the previous dungeon, you'll encounter Ghosts here. Remember that Noin's normal attacks will not work on them, but Felt's will. Another enemy, the Banshee, can also not be damaged by Noin normally. Use Noin's Force Blast instead to damage them. Head left and follow the path until you reach an intersection. Pick up the MOON STONE x3 and take the right path. There's two barrels on the far side, and continue along the path. At the next intersection, take a right, heading up the screen. Follow this path all the way to the end and you'll find a teasure chest. Open this to obtain 200 COLE. Head back to the previous intersection and take a left. Follow this until you reach another intersection, in which you should continue north up to the top of the screen. Pick up the RED LEGIEN x2, and take a right at the intersection. Open the chest at the end of the path for the Key item VEEK TACTICS, which will allow Viese to create the Roten Helm through Alchemy. Head back to the intersection and go left down the screen until you reach a second intersection. Head down the screen here and take the path all the way to the end and pick up the OLD MAGI GRASS x3. Head back up and continue left across the rest of the level. At this last intersection, go north and you'll find three barrels and a box. The bos has nothing in it, so just destroy it. One of the barrels has a PURE WATER though. Now, head south and jump to the lower level. On the large log, press the "X" button. In this new area, open the chest for an ANCIENT MASK. Go back up, take a left at the intersection, and at the wall, head south. Pick up the MAGI GRASS x3. Now, head all the way up to the very top of the screen following this left wall to find a save point and some WAX x2. Save your game. Note: At this point, since you have some Moon Stones now you can create some new items with Viese. Use a Dem Ore (or a Red Legien) and a Moon Stone to create a Pendulum. If you have that second Moon Stone, you can create a Roten Helm as well, by using a Red Legien and a Moon Stone. Head up the ladder at the end to reach a new area. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ Inside the Great Lightouse ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Characters: Felt, Noin Enemies: Mini Puni, Red Puni, Banshee, Ghost, Brownie, Imperial Footman, Imperial Soldier Bosses: None Key Items: Legin's Wing Items: Globeball, Faux Puniball x2, Foul Water, Green Mana, Spoiled Meat x2, Ore, 450 Cole Mana Items: Barrel x4 (+3 Wood) This new dungeon is multi-storied and will have quite a few more encounters than your previous dungeon. The areas are small, but there are quite a few intersections. Head into the main area and you'll reach your first intersection. Take the path up the screen and you'll find some stairs. Go down them and you'll be in a single room with the chest. Open the chest and you'll receive a GLOBEBALL. Head back up stairs to the intersection and head left down the screen. Go down the stairs here to continue. You're immediately faced with another intersection. Head right up the side of the screen and you'll find a little storage room with three barrels and an item. The item is FAUX PUNIBALL x2. One of the barrels has some FOUL WATER in it, too. head back to the intersection and follow the path up the screen. When you can go south, do so. Head up the stairs here, and open the chest on this upper level. This chest contains a GREEN MANA. Head back downstairs. Head all the way up the screen and take the northern set of stairs to a new area. This level is just a short little area heading to the right up to a brand new level. This is the upper level portion of the Lighthouse. Head left and use the Save Point, if necessary. The stairs are at the far end. This time, follow the path all the way right (making sure to pick up the SPOILED MEAT x2 on the way) and head up the stairs. Continue left on the upper level up this set too. Head right across this next level and you'll be an an intersection. Take the left path, open the chest for some ORE, and continue left up the stairs. On the next level, head right and up the stairs here. Save your game up here, and follow the right path until a scene plays out. You are forced into a battle with 2 Imperial Footmen and 2 Imperial Soldiers. This is much like the previous boss battle, except that you are stronger now. You'll get a good amount of Cole and Experience for winning, but it is still a normal encounter at this point. Watch a scene. Exit the cell, and follow the path right. Enter the cell to the left and pick up the 450 COLE from the chest. Soon, a short scene plays. You receive the LEGIN'S WING. This is a key item that will allow you to equip accessories as well as armor. You can also learn "Skills" at this point. Most probably, the only "Skill" item you'll have is an Alchemist Medal or two, so equip one on Felt immediately so that he can start learning "Offense." Head down the stairs and follow the path down multiple screens. Save your game when you reach the next save point. When you head downstairs next, a new scene plays. ****************************************************** Boss: Imperial Footman x4, Imperial Captain Experience: 1900 Skill: 60 Items: None Cole: 600 You'll probably get attacked before you have a chance to act in this battle. You are outnumbered five to two, so you will take quite a bit of damage. The Captain is quite a bit stronger than the Footmen, but there are more Footmen. What I suggest doing is starting off by targeting the two Footmen in the back with an area attack. This will hit the Captain as well. Have your next attack be on one of the Footmen in the front row as a Charge attack so that you get pushed over the Level 1 Skill limit again. The Captain's base attack (Skull Splitter) will probably do about twice the amount of damage that the normal footmen's attacks do, so make sure you keep yuor HP over 50 or 60 at all times if you plan on not being able to heal after a large beating. Also, be very careful, as the Captain has an ability called Landslide that will do around 40 damage. Fortunately, this ability has some change time, so make sure you get your HP to a higher amount before this ability goes off. If you aren't careful, the Captain has the ability to kill off your characters because of his powerful attacks. Watch your HP and keep it well above the halfway point at all times, as it will drop VERY quickly until you get rid of about 3 of the enemies. If necessary, use Noin's Heal Breeze as well, as it
