Sengoku Basara X is 2D one-on-one fighting game released by Arc Systems Works
in conjunction with Capcom. It is based on Capcom's action series Sengoku
Basara, which in turn is based off the Sengoku Period in Japanese  history.
This guide covers the move lists from the Playstation 2 version of the game,
but the arcade is the same except that the arcade version does not  include
Katakura Kojurou or Takenaka Hanbei in it's roster.

The move lists are annotated in the same manner as appears in the manual. That
is, button presses are designated by "weak," "medium," and "strong,"  not by
color or Playstation 2 button. For ease of reference, below are the default
Playstation 2 buttons and the color of the button on the arcade cabinet that
corresponds to these attacks. Also, assume facing to the right for all
directional inputs.

Square - Blue - Strong Attack                  Triangle - Yellow - Weak Attack
Circle - Red - Ally Attack                     X - Green - Medium Attack

For those who cannot read the character names or identify them on sight, the
character select screen is layed out as shown below. Please note that the two
bottom characters, Katakura Kojurou and Takenaka Hanbei are not present in the

Honda Tadakatsu was a warrior and vassal of Tokugawa Ieyasu, and one of his
most feared officers. Legend says he fought in over a hundred battles and
never suffered a wound in any of them. In Sengoku Basara he is portrayed as
a giant robot-like fighter reminiscent of a mobile suit.

Oichi-no-Kata was the sister of Oda Nobunaga and wife of Azai Nagamasa. She
had been married to Azai to cement an alliance between the two clans, but in
1570 Azai would break the alliance and attack the Oda. Azai would soon be
defeated and Oichi returned to her brother with her three daughters. She
then married Shibata Katsuie and died with her husband when his forces fell
to Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1583.

Sanada Yukimura was a famed warrior and one of the two protagonists of the
Sengoku Basara series. He was a vassal of the Takeda Clan until it was
destroyed by Oda Nobunaga. He would go on to serve the Uesugi, Hojo, and
Tokugawa Clans before rebelling alongside Ishida Mitsunari in 1600. He was
killed at the Battle of Tennoji in 1615 by Tokugawa forces.

Toyotomi completed the conquest and unification of Japan begun by Oda Nobunaga
