INTRODUCTION [INTR] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Well this is certainly an interesting tale. If you notice up at the top of this guide I have 7/1/04 posted as the date that I finished this guide. Yet as I'm sure you're aware it just past seven years from that date. So why the hell am I posting this guide now? Well I originally had this guide posted here on GameFAQs back in 04' when I completed it, along with several other guides. To make a long story short I ended up taking them all down for several different reasons. Well I have recently gone back to writing again and just out of curiosity decided to dig up an old, old computer I had to see if I still had a copy of any of the guides I wrote on the hard drive. Unfortunately, I did not. However I did remember I would save them on a floppy drive; after some searching I just so happened to actually find one of those floppy drives. Lucky for me I also happened to have a floppy drive converter that you can plug into a computer via a USB port (why I have this thing, I have no idea...) So while I wasn't able to salvage all of my past works, I was able to find this guide. After a little reformatting (I had such a bad formatting style back then, wow...) I've decided to repost the guide, completely how it was when I finished it. Now take into consideration I was a little younger at the time of writing this and my skills weren't so... how should I say... refined as they are now. And considering that I don't think they're that great even now, take that as you will. If you have any questions or comments, send me an email at: kmfx24 [at] yahoo [dot] com Please include the words "Rainbow Six 3" in the title of the email so I can easily sort through all the email I get. I'll try to respond as quickly as possible, but please take into consideration that I don't check my email every day. Feel free to contribute any criticism or information that I don't have listed, and please, by all means, if you think part of this guide is lacking on clarity shoot me an email. This guide is very old and I probably didn't write it with as much depth as I do now, so I can always go back and update this. _______________________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 02. Also changed my stance on posting this guide on other website other than GameFAQs, -> PLEASE READ UPDATED LEGAL INFO! <- Version 1.5 (09/05/2011) - Just fixed a few spelling and grammar mistakes. Version 1.4 (08/31/2011) - Wow, just over seven years since I last touched this thing. I might eventually go through the game again and check this guide as I do, probably going a bit more in depth in some areas if need be. But right now I have a few other projects going on as well so I'm just going to leave this be for the time being. Version 1.3 (08/21/2004) - Thanks to William Harrison for an email he sent me which corrected some errors I made with the names of the weapons. This is pretty much all I updated for now. Version 1.2 (07/22/2004) - Small, small update, thanks goes to Thomas K. for pointing out an error in the FAQ, where in the story I said the year was 1007 instead of 2007. Version 1.1 (07/04/2004) - Just fixed a few typos throughout the FAQ. Version 1.0 (07/01/2004) - FAQ/Walkthrough completed. _______________________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 03. GAME BASICS [GMBA] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Here I'll post the basics of the game, such as the story, character info, I'll show you what part of the screen means what, and I'll give you some tips I've found useful as well. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- STORY [STRY] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Taken from the game manual.) The year is 2007, and the world stands on the brink of a terrifying global conflict. As the United States is caught in an embargo-induced oil crisis, terrorist attacks against American interests - and citizens - escalate. Venezuela, which still supplies the United States with oil, also becomes a target. As unrest grows in America, protests rock the streets of Caracas. And while the shadow of terror looms, madmen plot even greater acts of murder and destruction. No place is safe, no border secure in this hour of fear. Only one bulwark stands between the world and the threats that now face it: Rainbow, and international task force dedicated to combating terrorism in all its forms. A top-secret organization consisting of the best field operatives the United Nations has to offer. Rainbow is the most potent weapon in the world's arsenal. Backed by the most sophisticated technology available and trained to the limits of human capability, they are our best hope in the war against terror. They may also be our last. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- CHARACTERS [CHAR] -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- (Taken from the game manual.) (3) - Action icon - Shows what action you/your team can perform. Press (or hold for you to perform action) the X button to perform the action. (4) - Radar - Shows you your position and what's going on around you, shows what direction enemy fire is coming from, on some levels it also shows terrorist positions, and shows your teammates positions. (5) - Gun - This shows you where you're aiming your gun. As you move the circle gets smaller forcing you to aim harder and as you stop moving the circle gets larger. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- TIPS [TIPS] -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Zooming - Zooming in with your gun is important in Rainbow Six 3. (Depending on the gun) Zooming in increases your accuracy by a lot. To zoom in with your gun press down the right analog stick. I use the zoom feature on the gun a lot when going around corners or while going into large rooms, you can get the first jump on some tangos (terrorists) far away that do not see you. Peeking - peeking around corners is very important, since around a lot of corners in Rainbow Six 3 are tangos, peeking around corners makes it harder for the enemy to shoot you since not much of you is exposed. Crouching position - The crouching position is very important when going in on stealth missions or sneaking up on tangos. While in the crouching position you move slower but make less noise while moving, which is important while doing stealth missions where you cannot be seen. Night vision - Night vision is very useful when in dark areas, like caves or caverns or even in some buildings. Thermal vision - Thermal vision is useful when you throw down a smoke bomb and use it for cover while taking out tangos. Turning on thermal vision while hiding in the smoke is the only way you can see the tangos, while they cannot see you. Also, you can see through some wooden doors when you put on thermal vision. Bombs - using bombs is very important in the game as well. Throwing down a smoke bomb in an area with many tangos is important because you can then stand in the smoke and turn on thermal vision and take out the tangos while they stand helpless. Also using regular bombs is important for clearing out areas or taking out a bunch of tangos, if a tango is hiding behind something throwing a bomb at him will usually result in him having to run from his hiding place making him an easy target, and if he doesn't run out it will kill him any whey. Zulu code - Using the Zulu-Go code is also important when storming rooms and eliminating tangos quicker. Every chance you get to storm a room from two places I highly suggest you do it. Covering - Use any object you can for cover. Barrels, desks, cabinets, tables, etc. Crouching behind a desk or chair makes it harder for your enemy to hit you. Enemies reloading - Always take advantage of your enemies reloading. Sometimes when your enemies see you, if you quick take cover they'll waste a whole magazine trying to shoot at you, which if you took good cover will be unsuccessful, then when you hear them reloading quickly take them out. Using your team - Sometimes it is more helpful to have your team open and clear on doors where in the next room you know is a hostage and some tangos, since your team is able to aim quicker and more accurate being a computer, also if you're low in health have your team go in each room first and open and clear on doors. _______________________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 04. WEAPONS AND EQUIPMENT [WNEQ] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ Here you will find information about all the weapons and equipment that there is to use in Rainbow Six 3. There are many types of weapons you can use in Rainbow Six 3, each with its own advantages. I personally like to use the G3A3 (7.62 MM) because of its good zoom and damage as well as its fairly good accuracy, however one of its disadvantages is that its capacity is only 20 and it has a rather low range. It's up to you to find out what weapon you like to use best, or if you want to try different weapons with each mission. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- To quickly jump to the section of the game you need help with, refer to the Table of Contents. One more note, after playing through this game several times, sometimes (but not often) tangos don't always do the same thing. Such as, during one play through the game a tango might have opened the door in one room, yet while playing through the game again in the same area a tango won't open the door in the same room. The first tango you'll encounter is at the top right window of the large building in front of you, take him out. If you can't see him clearly try turning on thermal vision. Also to the right of that building another tango will be patrolling the area, take him out as well. Move into the next open section of the village then go down the section to the left. In this next section is another tango to the right who, if spotted, will try to run to the tree in the middle of the area for cover, so quickly take him out. Now enter the door to the right. - CHECKPOINT - NEW OBJECTIVE: SECURE HOSTAGE Ok, so now you're given a new objective, to secure a hostage. Open the door to the left and enter the next room which is clear. In the next room are 2 tangos by the fireplace, send your team in there to take them out or do it yourself. Go to the steps to the right leading downstairs. In the room the steps lead to are 2 tangos, take them out from the steps, then once the room is clear enter it. Go to the back of the room and then to the right where a door is. Clark informs you to be careful on the road, and to not get caught in the cross fire. So obviously this door leads to the road. You can have your team open and clear on the door, or do it yourself. Outside are several tangos to the left, and one tango hiding behind the truck to your right. Have your team take out the tangos to the left while you deal with the
