A large army of destroyers came from a neighboring universe. The creators of the ghoul realm were no match for the powerful destroyers. Just when everyone had given up hope. A great fire swept over the realm, wiping out the destroyers' army Several hundred years have passed, and the realm is threatened once again... =========================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------Controls-------------------------------------------------------- =========================================================================== You control Firebrand, the hero of this game, he is a red colored (even though on the game pack it shows him as green…bah..) Stage 1: When you enter the stage, there should be a ghoul pacing around on the platform in front of you with a fish jumping around in the water. Kill them both (they only take one shot each) make sure not to get hit by the fish (health is precious at this point.) So shoot it when it jumps from the water. Now cling to the wall and continue upward, there should be 2 more fish blocking your way. After dispatching the fish, climb up the wall, and there should be a flame thing at the top of the tree, this enemy takes two hits. There should be a vial in the air to the left, jump up and fly over to nab it. Go down and keep to the left, unless you choose to fall right into the fish below. Kill the other fish to the right and scale the wall, alternating between the left and right sides to avoid the spikes. Jump up and hover to kill the flame and the ghoul. There's another vial in the small corner to the left, jump up and grab it (keep clear of those spikes). The ghoul may come back but its not a problem, just kill it again. Get rid of the next fish and climb up the next wall, there's a heart to the left of the tree, but its over a pit of spikes. If you've gotten hit, jump left and start flying at the peak of the jump, then, as you grab the heart, immediately go to the right to avoid falling into the spikes. Kill the flame on top of the tree and fall down and cling to the left side of the tree to kill the other flame. Jump to the platform that the flame was sitting on and a big bat thing should fall from its perch and come after you, just shoot it once and it will be gone, shoot ahead again to kill the other bat. Kill the two ghouls and move to the right a bit, there should be some small platforms suspended in the air, these will fall as soon as you touch them so be careful, as there is a pond with tow fish right beneath the platforms...not to mention some more of those bats To get the vial, just stand on the platform until it falls and jump right as you hit the vial, be careful of the bats. If you screw up and fall, just continue on or go back to the left and climb up the wall to try again (the platforms will reappear if you go out of sight and come back). Either way, you'll end up in the same place but the high road is the quicker route. There is another vial to the left of the tree, jump up and grab it. Continue left, jump and fly over the spikes, killing the enemies in your way (the ghouls can walk on water! how bout' that?) Collect the vial and fly over the spikes, careful though, you might run out of flying power on the way... Drop down, and kill the flames. There is another heart at the bottom of the vertical corridor, but be sure to hover at the last second before dropping on the spikes! Continue left...which leads you to… BOSS FIGHT: Big fish thingy (a.k.a. Zundo Druer) Damn! That thing sure is UGLY! Cling to the right side of the first platform and shoot the fish quickly before its small flames reach you (Note: you cannot kill the flames it shoots out, they look exactly like the flames in this level that you could kill..) It will sink back into the water and pop up again somewhere else. Be sure to stay on the platforms and not sink into the water. When it pops up, just fire at it some more until it dies (take THAT! gwahaha, ugly thing...) it takes about 17 hits to kill it. Walk through the door and arrive on the world map of the Ghoul Realm. You may run into some random encounters, but none of them are too hard. (Note: some battles have Ghouls with shields equipped, just jump over them and fire at their back to kill them) Go west, and talk to the ghoul, and he'll fight you. Beat him to gain passage (easy fight) Go north, and you'll encounter another ghoul (same fight as before) Now go west, then north, you'll come to a village. If you go into the door above you upon entering the village, you can get the passw-err..."words to the resurrection spell" from the guy there. The guy on the right-hand room will sell you Talismans of the Cyclone (Extra life) for 8 vials each. Go down and enter the room that you see, to the left is a vial, check it to pick it up. Go up and speak to Barone Jark (nice guy actually...) seems his Gremlin Stick was stolen (D'OH!) if you agree to help him get it back, he'll give you the Fingernail of the Spectre, which allows Firebrand to jump higher. Now exit the village and go north, there's a frightened villager there (why he isn't IN the village, I dunno...) go to the bridge to the north and prepare to cross it. Stage 2. Your newly acquired Fingernail of the Spectre will allow you to jump up and cling to the edge so you can proceed though. This part is pretty straightforward, just watch out for the fire geysers and make sure not to fall in the fire when the platforms drop down. When you reach the end, there is a line of spikes that you must fly over. Just walk right, jump up, and fly at the peak of the jump, you should be fine. Now across the bridge, go east a little and get a talisman of the cyclone. Go north, then east until you see a ghoul standing there...kick his ass (jump over the ghouls and flame em' in the back) and proceed to the southwest to come to the Big Tower Monster. Stage 3. This entire thing is a MONSTER? Jeez.... Kill the ghouls and move forward, beware of that tree, it'll shoot out these little balls when you shoot it, so keep your distance when you shoot them. Go right, and kill the bug on the wall, then jump left and cling to that wall as soon as those eyes drop down at you. There's nothing special to the right, so just continue up the wall. Grab the vial and kill the 2 bugs coming at you, then shoot the tree. There's another bug on the left wall, kill it and climb up to find another bug and another tree. Climb up the right wall, fly over to the little edge where the tree is and jump over to the right edge just across from the tree. Shoot the tree, avoid the balls and shoot the tree on the right hand side. Jump in place and see if the bug is still there on the left-hand wall (it sometimes disappears) Scale that wall and jump across to the edge, nab the vial and continue right. Jump over the spikes, and there should be a moving pillar just to the right, wait for it to reach you, cling to its side then Jump on top of it. Cling to the right side of the moving pillar above you and, if you wish, drop down and get the vial, then inch right a bit to nab a talisman of the cyclone, but DON'T FORGET TO HOVER or else you'll land in a pit of spikes. This feat will bring you back to the place where I said there was nothing special. Go left and be careful of the bouncing eyeballs. Just repeat what I said above, I don't feel like typing it all over again (I know, copy and paste, but...blah..) When you get to the moving pillars again, this time go up. Go down and you'll find another moving pillar, jump on top of it and kill the Venus Flytrap, be careful though, it'll spit out those eyeballs from before... More moving pillar fun! Ride the first one over to the right and cling to the other one, killing the Flytrap afterward. Now cling on the pillar directly above you and ride it over to the right, where you'll cling onto another moving pillar. Cling to the left wall and cling to ANOTHER moving pillar, or use the right-hand wall to jump up and kill the flytrap. Cling to the little patch of wall just beneath the spikes to the right and cling to...yup, another moving pillar (gah!) Go right, encounter another moving pillar, and scale the right hand wall... BOSS FIGHT: Big Tower Monster This actually isn't as bad as it sounds, you just fight its four wall mounted eyes. uurgh! Another moving pillar! Hover over, cling to the little wall, drop down, go left to the little block of ground that Firebrand can stand on and fight the first of four eyes (the lower right hand one first) Jump up, hover right, and flame it. If it fires at you, just go back to the little platform. Lather, Rinse, Repeat 5X Now jump on the platform just to the right of the one you were standing on, and flame the lower left-hand eye 5X Go back to where the lower right-hand eye was and fly over the spikes there, jump up to the moving pillar and get on top of it. Flame either eye alternatively and avoid the fire they send after you. Much flashing will occur, and a doorway will appear to the left, enter it to exit the Big Tower Monster. You got the Gremlin stick! Whee! You now have the power of Blockbuster, a stronger, faster attack than your flame. (Note: When you get into a battle, make sure to press start, highlight the blockbuster magic and push start again to equip it. Now return to Jark (crossing the bridge again...) and USE the stick on him. He'll then see a vision of the King surrounded in flames. He'll then give you the Candle of the Poltergeist to take to King Darkoan. Exit the village, and cross the bridge AGAIN... Go north from the bridge until you see a man blocking the passage to Darkoan's Palace. Tell him yes, and he'll commend your bravery by giving you the Armor of the Dragon, which raises your vitality by 1 point. Now enter the cave the looks like a demon’s head… Stage 4 Go right, and climb up the wall. Jump in the water below and watch out for the fish that will dash at you then you enter their line of vision, you can kill them if you like. Just keep pressing jump to swim. Go downwards and then to the right, there is the exit. Go east, Check the Talisman of the Cyclone and continue to the village to the east. (IU9L-RN6T) There’s nothing special in this village, you can buy more talismans and get a password, but that’s it. Exit the village and go a little to the north, you can fight the ghoul if you want, but its really not necessary. If you do fight him, watch out for the fire that the two demons send after you, they take 2 hits from your vitality instead of 1. Continue north to the tree right above where the ghoul was standing, and CHECK the tree. You now have the Wings of the Falcon, which enable you to fly longer than before. Head west, then north and enter the village. If you enter the room just above where you entered, you find out that this village was taken over by the destroyers and some of the citizens are being held captive. If you talk to anyone outside of the room, they threaten to eat you. o_O nice people… You can get a password here, but no talismans are for sale. Leave the village and head north. This part is very important, instead of heading east and crossing the broken bridge, go west and then northeast to find an item called the Essence of the Soulstream. This item will come in handy to say the least, it will restore all hitpoints in battle. Yay! To use it, press start in battle and press right to highlight the little bottle, press A and voila, all hitpoints are restored if damage was received. Now go back to where you were, head east and fight the ghoul guarding the bridge. Careful, those things are fairly tough, they absorb a lot of hits and they throw their heads at you and can cause a lot of damage. Go over to the bridge and enter it… Stage 5 Woo! This part is fairly hard if you don’t know what you’re doing… As soon as you start off, walk right and jump as high in the air as you can, at the peak, start flying right. Even with the Wings of the Falcon you’ll barely make the jump, cling to the edge and climb up. Another strategy is to jump into the air and fly, then after about a second, push A again to stop flying, but IMEDIATELY press A again to start flight again, pressing right all the time while doing this, or else, you won’t make it. Jump on the falling platforms and fly over to the next set, jump off of these, fly over the spikes, and cling to the right-hand side of the wall that the spikes are lying on. Jump on the next set of falling platforms, jump and hover to avoid running into the spikes. Land on the platforms below the spikes and let them fall a little before jumping to the next set because of the spikes. Ignore the heart because the exit is right there, after you fly across the fire that is. Go southeast and enter Darkoan’s Castle… You can talk to some of the people here, but its not really important. Stage 6 Watch out as you start this level, there is a booby-trap on the floor right in front of where you enter, see where the floor kinda doesn’t look right? Keep an eye out for these later in the level. Kill the bug on the wall (avoiding the trap) and scale it. There’s another trap at the top of this wall, so be careful because you might accidentally trigger it by flying over it and slightly landing on it. Jump down, cling to the wall and kill the toad hopping around there (2 Blockbuster shots). Fly over and notice another trap in the floor. Jump over it and cling to the wall. Now, see those blocks that look like they have bubbles in them? Shoot those with the blockbuster and you can break openings in them to get the vial. Be careful though, you can’t cling to these, so leave the bottom ones there so you can walk on them. Continue right (avoiding yet another trap in the ground) drop down and break some more blocks with the blockbuster. Keep going, killing the enemies in the way and avoiding another trap that triggers the giant ball overhead. Break the next set of blocks and go right, scaling the right side of the wall. This time, you WANT to set off the trap in the wall, but STAY IN THE HOLE THAT THE TRAP MADE! Or else the giant ball will hit you. If you are missing some health then grab the heart that was behind the giant ball. Backtrack and climb the right-hand wall, you can set the trap off if you like, just stay in the hole again so the ball won’t hit you. Jump up to where the ball was and fire at the venus flytrap, scale the wall above you and prepare for some heavy winds… The winds here will push you back slowly, and it will make flying speed really crappy, so be careful. Keep going right, and be warned, there is a very powerful vampire type thing that is very fast and will take 2 hit points off of you if you get hit by it…it’s also very hard to kill it and manuver at the same time because of the winds…thanks Capcom! We love you! Do your best to maneuver around it and if it follows you, try to kill it. You can break the blocks if you want to, but it’s easier just to jump to the platforms above. You will come to a place where you need to break the blocks to get past (or you could just go down to find a hidden heart in the pit.) Continue right and the winds will stop. Good, they were getting annoying. Keep heading right, and land on one of the platforms, this leads to… BOSS FIGHT: Bellzemos. This guy will appear, fire at you, and then turn into 4 flies that scatter, then one of the flies turns back into the monster. TIP: the fly that is closest to you will ALWAYS be him, that’ll make timing a little better so you can shoot him. I lost count to how many shots it takes to beat him, but if you run low on health, just use the Essence to refill your hitpoints…he’s really not that hard anyway. Enter the doorway to the right. See that guy sitting there? That’s King Darkoan, there are vials and a Talisman of the Cyclone in his room, be sure to get those. After collecting the items, go up to Darkoan and USE the candle on him, he’ll them wake up and tell you that his power was stolen by Breager, the King of Destruction.. He then says that he can’t regain his power until Breager is defeated, but only the Red blaze can accomplish this task. Darkoan wants you to seek the Red Blaze and then gives you the last of his remaining power. Your wings and jumping power increase a lot after this, needless to say, you’re set for awhile. Go north and enter the village there, Talismans are now 16 vials each, you can also get a password here. Go southeast and enter this next village. Talismans are now 32 vials! Jeez! Go up, and you should see a little demon blocking a doorway, talk to him and he’ll challenge you to a battle. This little guy can be pretty tough, maneuver around him and fire at him when he pauses in the air. When you beat him, He’ll give you the Armor of Guile, which gives you another hitpoint. He’ll then disappear and you can now talk to Bymon. Bymon says that you’re too late, and the Destroyers took the candle to the Desert of Destitution to the east. (This part I don’t get) tell Bymon NO and then you can continue…weird… he says that if you recover the candle, then he’ll tell you where Majorita is. Exit the Village and go east…now, the Desert’s winds will push you back if you’re not careful, so follow these instructions on how to get to the hole at the top. >From the village, go right once. Go up all the way. Go right 3 spaces Go down Go right Go down Go right Go down to enter the hole. Stage 7 Go right, and drop down, avoiding the spikes on the wall and occasionally hovering. There are some spots of regular wall that you can cling onto if you want to make sure you have full flight power. Kill the bugs, and grab the heart over on the left-hand wall (you’ve most likely been hit by the spikes and you don’t want to waste your essence of the soulstream just yet…) Now you’ll come to some water (this stuff actually LOOKS like water this time…) there’s a whole bunch of vials here, you can get them, but I usually already have 99 at this point, so I don’t really need them. Kill the fish in your way and go right and up. When you reach the end of the water, there should be a skeleton sitting there on the ledge, it takes 3 hits to kill. Continue downward, the spikes look like they have two paths to choose from, but choose the right-hand path to continue on in the level. When you get to the bottom, there’s another skeleton, and a new type of enemy that looks sort of like a flying plant. Sometimes, the enemy in question has these little leaf things following behind it…that’s a bad thing. When you shoot that enemy 8 times, one of the leaves will disappear, then the enemy’s head takes about 5 shots to kill…this isn’t as easy as it sounds, though, as its coming after you the entire time. Continue left, and there will be more breakable blocks for you. Clear a path on through, (don’t miss that heart up there) drop down and start flying right (keeping an eye on your wing power, mind you, there’s nowhere to land except on a bunch of spikes.) When you reach the next opening, there will be two sand imps, one on top of the platform, one on the bottom…take your pick, after dispatching one (or both) of the imps, continue right, and here we have… BOSS FIGHT: Zakku Druer Remember when I said not to waste your Essence of the Soulstream? This is why… This thing will fire at you constantly, and also hop up to the platform that you’re on sometimes, so keep your distance and fire at will. Be warned that this thing will take 2 hitpoints out of you if it comes in contact with you… When you run low on health (you most likely will…) use your Essence and whip his butt some more. Just remember to keep moving and firing at him with the blockbuster. If you die, you’ll be returned to the place with the water. Defeating this powerful enemy gets you the Candle of Darkness and Claw ability….oooooh, aaaaahhh.. The Claw ability is more powerful than the blockbuster, it also has the power to create perches on spikes, this will be useful if you’re running out of flying power and have nowhere to land. Go back to the village (the winds in the desert will be gone now) and talk to Bymon, he’ll tell you that you can get to Majorita’s cave by the secret entrance in his room, its in the upper right-hand corner, just walk into it. (Note: you can only do this once you’ve gotten the Candle of Darkness back) If you go up to the right, you can get 2 Talismans of the Cyclone. Go back down and take the left path this time, get the 4 vials, and exit. Go southeast and fight the ghoul blocking the entrance to Majorita’s cave. With the Claw ability, this fight will be a breeze, so don’t worry. Go south and enter the hole… Stage 8. There will be 2 ghoul knights right at the start of this stage…jump over them and kill them from behind. Jump down and encounter 2 more ghoul knights and a bug…I think you know what to do. Jump down, 2 bugs and a Ghoul knight. Jump down and there will be just one bug. Jump down again, and just fall down alongside the spikes to the platform below. Go left, jump down and hover right before you fall, because there’s a little flame there, 1 Claw shot will kill it. Fly across and there will be another flame. Jump up and there’s another flame. Don’t worry about the eyeball (unless you only have 1 hitpoint) and there’s the exit. Go down and talk to Majorita, then light the Candle of Darkness at the altar. Talk to all of the Majorita’s that appear, and they’ll tell you the legend of the Red Blaze. Now go back up and there will be another ghoul blocking the way to Majorita, fight him. This fight will consist of 2 Ghost Tanks, they can only be damaged from behind, so when they turn away, shoot them, but beware, sometimes they’ll turn back really quickly…but all in all, its not a tough fight. Talk to Majorita, and she’ll tell you to go meet Rushifell and get the Eternal Candle from him (jeez…another candle?) Go to the bridge and enter it. Stage 9. There will be a bat thing at the start of the level, so shoot it when it comes down on you. Hover above the fire, drop down and cling to the left-hand wall just beneath the fire to regain your flight power. Jump off and fly over the fire to your right, then land and quickly jump from the falling platforms. Hover just beneath the spikes so you don’t jump into them when jumping from the falling platforms. There will be a wall on the far right, so cling to that and jump up to the wall on the upper left. Jump off this and fly to the right, there will be a platform with a flame head on it, so kill it and continue right. There’s another flame and 2 bats will come after you as well at this point. Keep going right, kill the next 2 flames, drop-fly over to the block that juts out vertically and cling onto it. Jump off and start flying right before you drop into oblivion, and fly to the right. Exit. Go directly south to the next village. Talismans are 32 vials again, and you can also get a password. (X7SA-C65T) Go one space down from where you entered the village and follow the path to meet your little buddy who gave you the Armor of Guile. He’ll give you a tip-off that all of the next caves are traps, but if you go all the way east and enter the second one from the top, it’ll be the correct path. Stage 10. When you enter, you can grab the vial if you want. Then drop down and take the left side of the spike path. You’ll want to hurry up now, there’s a lot of those plant enemies from stage 7 that I described earlier coming after you. Waste no time in dropping to the platform below and heading to the right. Drop left and hover before hitting the spikes. Fly right, climb up the wall and test your new Claw ability. Fire a claw at the spikes and perch on it, the do the same thing, alternating sides. Just climb up from here to reach the exit. Go up and enter Rushifell’s keep. He’ll challenge you and says he’ll be waiting at the end of the level for you (coward…he’s right there! Just fight him now!) Stage 11. Kill the frog at the beginning and head right. There’s another frog and a bat. Fly right and another bat will attack you. Now, perch on the lower left-hand wall just beneath the spikes from where the bat attacked you so you can regain your flying strength. Two more bats will attack, after disposing of them, drop down into the hole and kill the two frogs. Go left. Here’s the hardest part in the game IMO, these drill things will pop out of the wall VERY quickly and take 2 hitpoints off of you. Take a second to realize the pattern, then hover over one and drop down right when it retracts into the wall, but don’t forget to hover again right after that! There are 2 more drills to get past. If you get hit, then just keep dropping down since you’re invincible for a couple of seconds anyway… Continue right, and use the claw ability to climb up the spike wall. There’s a heart right above your head, you may want to take it. Keep going right, but don’t stop, as the ceiling tiles start falling on you (Rushifell’s keep is falling down…falling down…) Drop down and be sure not to hit those spiky balls there. There will be a long line of flame heads on the floor beneath you, so perch on the wall and wait for an opening, the open fire on those suckers. Use claw and climb up the short spike wall. Kill the skeleton. Use claw to climb up the next spike wall, keep to the right to avoid hitting the next screw. Kill the skeleton at the top of the spike wall. Continue upward on the left-hand wall to find a heart guarded by one of those things that throws its head. Go back down and fly over the spikes. Perch or land then drop down again (the little area to the right just has a ball trap) avoiding the spikes below. Head to the ground where you can stand on the right, there will be one more of those drill things. Drop down and hover before you set off the next ball trap, then fly to the right. More ceiling tiles will choose to fall on you now, so don’t stop walking right. When you reach the end, drop down and kill that skeleton. Go upwards to find a heart (but the skeleton will re-appear) Change to blockbuster and shoot the blocks to break them open so you can continue. There’s another set of the breakable blocks…this leads you to the room with… BOSS FIGHT: Rushifell DON’T change your power back to claw, because the only way to hurt Rushifell is to shoot him in the head with the blockbuster power. Here’s what to do: Perch on one of the blocks adjacent to Rushifell’s head, when he lowers an arm, shoot him as much as you can until he raises that arm up again. When he raises both arms up and they make a big sparkling ball, Jump up till you can’t see the sparkling ball and hover for a couple of seconds. This way, the ball cannot follow you and you won’t have to deal with dodging around and shooting Rushifell at the same time. Keep doing that strategy, and Rushifell will fall in no time. When you’ve defeated Rushifell, go talk to him, and he’ll give you the Eternal Candle…Firebrand will hear voices in his head (that’s it…he’s lost it!) and then become insanely powerful…the voices tell him to go give Breager a severe ass-whuppin’. Your new abilities now are: Level 4 jumping (that’s really high in case you didn’t know) UNLIMITED flying power, 5 hitpoints, and a new shot called Darkfire. Enter the next bridge. Stage 12. Test out your new abilities…whee! Jump up, and fly over the fire. One of those vampire things will come after you, just select darkfire and take it out in 3 shots. Keep going right, and another vampire will attack you, just do the same thing to it. Keep going, another vampire will come visit you Now just exit the level. Go north and enter Breager’s Castle Stage 13. Select Claw and head right. Use claw on the spikes and climb up. Keep going right, it doesn’t matter what road you take, high or low, they both lead to the same place. Continue right and jump onto the wall above you, (still having Claw selected) go left, and climb the spike wall. Go left, scale the wall, hover over the flames to get the heart (if you need it that is). Climb the right-hand wall and watch out for the bat, it can surprise you sometimes. Switch to blockbuster and fly over the fire, shoot the blocks and continue on through. Continue right and fly over the flames, jump left and continue through. Go up and switch back to Claw, scale the spike wall and be careful of the bugs. Switch back to blockbuster after climbing the wall. Shoot the blocks out and fly left. Switch to Claw so you can climb the spikes here. Then switch back to Blockbuster and shoot the blocks at the top. (Getting repetitive…) Continue upwards and switch to claw so you can hit the side of the spike on the ceiling to go through. Climb the next set of spikes, (be weary of the vampire there.) and fly over to the wall on the right. Climb up that wall (there’s another vampire) and there’s the exit…phew! Go up, and make sure to get the 4 Talismans of the Cyclone before talking to big bad Breager. Talk to Breager and he’ll offer you to become his follower and he’ll even throw in ownership of the entire ghoul realm in the process! How can you refuse? Right? If you say yes…. Whee! Its fun fighting the King of Destruction with the powers that you had at the beginning of the game!! In other words, its impossible to beat him like this, so let him kill you. If you say no… Go Git’ im’ Firebrand. BOSS FIGHT: Breager. The only way to hurt Breager is with Darkfire. Get on a platform right next to Breager’s head. When he lowers his upper arm, let him have it. When he creates a sparkly ball like Rushifell’s just shoot it with Darkfire and it’ll be gone. Use the Essence of the Soulstream in case of emergency. After you send Breager back to hell where he belongs, you’ll be back in King Darkoan’s chambers, the king now has his full power back. Now sit back and enjoy the ending.
