Most of what actually took place there are not offered in this game, but some of the basics are, including the 100m run and the 110m hurdles, and it is a fairly basic game overall, with no real longplay section aside from a series of plays of each mini-game. If you have a Super Game Boy, you can put Olympic Summer Games into it, and you will get an actual colour palette to work with. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- Modes -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ [MODE] Play Game --------- Lets you play through all the events on your own, and continues until you complete all the events, regardless of whether you won them all or not. Customize --------- This allows you to choose the order of events to be done in One Player and Two Player, up to 15 events, and you can repeat the same event more than once. Your new order only lasts until you turn the game off. Practise -------- Lets you choose one event specifically to play and practice at. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- Events -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ [EVNT] -------- 100m Run -------- Your basic running race, 100m run is straightforward running. Press the A and B button in tandem to make your on-screen avatar run more quickly. However, pressing the buttons extremely quick will not work, as you need to develop a rhythm instead pressing the A and B buttons to run your fastest. Pressing Up at the end will also allow your character to lunge towards the finish line. ------------ 100m Hurdles ------------ Press the A and B button in tandem with rhythm to make your on-screen avatar run more quickly, much like with the regular 100m run. Pressing the Up button will be sufficient to make your avatar jump - the precise time you should jump is fairly lenient, as you can press the Up button for about a half second before you hit the hurdle. Be careful, as if you hit a hurdle you will lose all of your running speed, and shall have to build up acceleration again. ---------- Pole Vault ---------- At the start, press the A and B button in tandem with rhythm to build up speed as your racer runs towards the vault. Once you begin to approach, press the Down button, and then the Up button quickly thereafter to first press the pole down into the ground and then launch the rider up into the sky. Hold the Right button down next to give the vaulter enough momentum to clear the pole. --------- Long Jump --------- In the beginning of your jump, you get to run for several meters to build up speed. Press the A and B button in tandem to make your on-screen avatar run more quickly. At the end of the run, there will be a cut-off line where you must press the Up button to make your avatar jump. After you make your jump, you will be given your distance. ----------- Triple Jump ----------- Triple Jump begins the same way as Long Jump as you will start by having to run for several meters to build up speed. Once you hit the line at the end, immediately press the Up button to make your avatar jump. As soon as he lands, quickly hit the Up button to jump up again, and then repeat for a third time to complete the Triple jump and receive your distance. It is quite easy to be disqualified on this event, as a warning. --------- High Jump --------- For the third of the three regular jumping events, you will, as always, start off with a run in which you must hit the A and B button in a rhythm to build up speed as your jumper continues to run. Once you hit the end of the track, your jumper will start to turn his back. When he does this, quickly tap the Up button for him to make his jump and clear the top of the pole bar. ------- Javelin ------- Much as is the norm in most of these mini-games, you will begin by having to run. Press A and B repeatedly in a rhythmic pattern to build up speed. After a short period of time, your javelin thrower will arch his back and raise the javelin up slightly. When this occurs, press and hold the Right button for the javelin thrower to change the angle he throws his javelin at, and then quickly hit the Left button and hold it down. If you do not do so, he will overthrow and walk over the disqualifying line. ------ Discus ------ Press the A and B button for your discus thrower to build up rotational force. Once you feel you have gotten as much spin as you are going to get to, press the Left button for your discus thrower to start moving. When he crosses the middle of the circle, press the Up button to adjust the angle of the throw, and then the Right button to finally throw the discus. ----- Skeet ----- One of the more different mini-games, in Skeet you are put into an area with a forest background, and your character avatar is given an over-the shoulder view with a gun. A cursor on screen indicates your gun's aim. Pressing the A or B button will release a pigeon (a small disc) into the sky, and your goal is to aim your cursor at the pigeon and fire and destroy it, by pressing either the A or B button. You get two shots per pigeon to try and destroy it, though be warned: there is extremely little leniency for being accurate with your shots, as you need to be virtually frame-perfect to achieve a shot. ------- Archery ------- In Archery, you are given a background again with an archery board, and your character avatar is shown with an over-the-shoulder view. Aim the cursor at the desired spot on the board, then press and hold either the A or B button. Next, press the Right button, and the bar on the upper right will begin to fill up. Once you let go of the Right button, it will begin to decrease, so you need to hit the A or B button again during this time to fire.
