Why? Well, I've always been a fan of the cartoons as a child (Oh who am I kidding, I still am), and this game never had a FAQ made for it. This is also an effort to help out the GameBoy FAQ Completion Project located at Gamefaqs.com, which is a project designed to have a FAQ for every gameboy game released. If you feel like helping, go over to the contributor boards at gamefaqs and help out! Also, this guide was written rather quickly and probably won't see any updates barring any HUGE piece of info I missed, which is doubtful. Since it's a habit though, here's my email (Y'know, in case you want to send a lovely "Thank You" email or something). So for the sake of saving their home, Tom and Jerry will put aside their differences to try and save their home! We'll go through the levels, and while I won't hold your hand I'll tell you which ways to go and point out cetain things of interest (AKA: I'm not going to point out each and every collectable item), so if you have the pokemon syndrome of 'Gotta catch em all', feel free to explore. Each level has items to find which all add up your score at the level's exit. Tom/Jerry has a life bar, which decreases each time you take a hit. You also have "lives" which are shown by how many hearts you have. Finding a black star will refill your health entirely. Each time you get hit, you'll be invulnerable for a few seconds. You can use this time to blaze through the level is you wish. Also, each level is timed, but I found I had more than enough time to get through them. Just don't dilly-dally and you'll be fine! It's also interesting to note that the plot of this game is based off of Tom and Jerry: The Movie. And no, I've never seen it, I just learned that off of wikipedia. ------------------- Level 1: The Street ------------------- [FA: LVL-1] We'll start out as Tom here and be able to collect fish. Get acquainted with the controls: A for jump and hold B to sprint. You can combine the two to jump further. Jump onto the roof to find a quarter-piece of watermelon. You can collect four of these things to get an extra life. ???? Beware of the fire hydrant here as you collect the fish (the water hurts you). You can use the ball things to send yourself upwards and collect goodies on the ledges. The scooter things here don't stop, but you can hit B on them to get off. Keep going to the third scooter and use it to jump the large gap coming up. There's a lot of ledges and sections here you can use the scooter to jump, but personally I like doing it on foot, as I have more control. The next area has several ledges by the houses you can climb to get fish. Beware the small cars here as they hurt. There's also several flower pots in this area that you need to bait to fall before you're under them. Keep going right to meet up with Jerry and end this level. ------------------- Level 2: The Lounge ------------------- [FA: LVL-2] Now this is an interesting level! You'll be inside the house as the contruction company starts to tear it down. You'll hear the wrecking balls going to town on the house. This level is pretty straight forward, just be careful of the birds and the spikes on the floor in some spots. Also, in the wide open areas be ready to jump at a moments notice as the wrecking balls will swing down, so just jump over them. Keep this up and get through the level. You got a lot of health and as long as you jump over most of the wrecking balls you'll be fine. Near the end you'll pass through a door and be told that you can't leave without Jerry! Well darn! ----------------------------- Level 3: The Lounge Revisited ----------------------------- [FA: LVL-3] Here you'll meet a Tom ghost again who will tell you to hit down while you're running for an attack, which is pretty neat. There's some fish if you go up, but just jump over the clowns (timing!) and avoid the skateboard as you go left. The next up has a few fish too if you want. Keep heading left. You'll have another choice to go up or down. Down has a piece of watermelon, then go up to continue. Head right at the top. If you stay on this higher level and keep going right you can find a star, which as you know heals your health to full. Down at the bottom, you can find a ton of fish to the right, but go left to continue. Keep going this way and you'll find Jerry, who will say that you two need to be friends to survive. ------------------ Level 4: The Alley ------------------ [FA: LVL-4] You'll now be playing as Jerry, and be collecting cheese instead of fish, naturally. Get the cheese and drop down into the sewer. Here you'll have to deal with dropping water, fish, and pieces of wood. Oh, and spikes. You can find some watermelon and cheese to the left and to the right take the dangerous water path down and to the left to find a heart! Keep going to the right and get out of the water. You can find a star in the water below if you need it, but use the ladders to the right to continue. Go up another ladder. To the left is some watermelon and to the right is your way out of the sewers. Get out and head to the left. You'll have to go down into it again briefly to continue (ignore the stupid clown things). Make your way to the left and you'll have to go down into the sewers again. Gah! There's some timing challenges here, but you can do it. Don't drop at the ladder either, as there are spikes down there too. Head left again through the sewers and you'll come across another star. Nice. Go up to the streets. Up here you'll meet an ally cat that will start a fight with you. Use your rolling attack (Press down while running) to finish off this nuisance, then go talk to the girl. She'll say her name is Robyn and she's ran away from her evil aunt. You'll also get a "Password for the Kitchen" after this level: Fish, Star, Watermelon, Cheese, Heart. -------------------- Level 5: The Kitchen -------------------- [FA: LVL-5] This level moves the screen for you, so you need to be fast! Well, you need to at least pay more attention. There's some plates here that try and fall on you too, so be careful! When you have a chance to go to the upper path do so, as the good items (i.e. watermelon) are up there. You'll also encounter the dog that they warned you about. This thing runs bakc and forth and doesn't go away. It also jumps up at you, so be ready! You'll find a star too, as you go along, which you may need thanks to the dog! Also, look out for a heart (1-UP) that you can grab as you go. Keep dodging the plates and the dog to reach Aunty Figg at the end. All in all, probably the hardest level so far. -------------------- Level 6: The Library -------------------- [FA: LVL-6] Go up the stairs and watch out for the doll. The lights beyond him also can drop down on you. Jump on the piano to get up (I was expecting the piano to make a sound here. Bummer.). Keep heading up but be aware of the loose books as they jump up like mouse traps. The alcove to the left has some slides past the bookcase (you can jump through these) but it'll take you to the start. Keep going up. The next alcove on the left has some more cheese but takess you all the way to the top. Not worth it. Instead keep going up and take the alcove above that to go up even more. At the top you can find some watermelon to the left, than go right and down the slope. Head down the next two slopes and you should see a suspicious black spot to your left. You can walk through the wall here, so do so and grab the telegram here (which is the aunt's). Now go down the stairs and another slope. This one branches, but there's a wall you can walk through between them so it really doesn't matter. In fact just keep heading down to meet up with Aunt Figg and end the level. ---------------------------------- Level 7: Dr. Applecheek's Basement ---------------------------------- [FA: LVL-7] This guy is a... well, i'll leave that word out of here. Basically he turns the lights out on you and you have to find an "ON" switch to turn them back on. Head to the right to turn the lights on and drop down to floor 2. The right path has goodies, so go that way if you wish then left past the stairs. Head down to floor 3 and you'll see the Dr. turn the lights off again. Keep heading right and for god's sake jump to get the cheese (there are pits otherwise). Turn on the lights again and go down the stairs, where the Dr. will turn off the light again. There's a few places to explore around here, like to your left and upper right, but you can end the level by going down the stairs on your right, hitting the lights, and finding Tom. ------------------ Level 8: The Attic ------------------ [FA: LVL-8] In this level we'll control Tom. The evil aunt will want to talk to Robyn. I have no idea why she'd tell a cat that... anyway go a bit in and you'll meet Jerry who will give you some spring shoes. Use them to jump higher and get through the boxes to the right. Get used to these things as you'll have to avoid enemies with them on. Remember that you jump higher when you hit "A" as you land. Get past the next set of enemies and boxes. Head down the stairs and west into another set of boxed walls. In the far corner here is Robyn's backpack, so be sure to grab it. Now we gotta get to Robyn. Head to the right and you'll fall further down. Keep jumping and you'll come to a real wall you can just move through (past the bedroom). There's a 1-Up in here (a heart). You can also find a star by going to the left through another invisible wall. To find Robyn, use the big box wall structure above you to get up and to the left. You'll find the path to continue up there, although it can be hard to find with all the fake walls. Just keep heading up and left when you can. You'll find Robyn down here and she'll take the backpack and run. Go a bit further to find the evil aunt and finish the level. You'll get a password after this level as well: Heart, Heart, Melon, Melon, Fish --------------------- Level 9: The Carnival --------------------- [FA: LVL-9] Here you'll be tasked with finding a balloon that has Robyn's locket, which means you can find and collect balloon's too. Head out to the right and avoid the clowns and spikes. There's a melon piece on top of the ride, fyi. There's another on a ledge further on too. Keep heading right and you'll have to battle a carny. Take him out the same way you took out the alley cat. He'll throw balls sometimes, but this is a VERY easy fight. After you win, jump up the very next pole to find the balloon you need. You can ride the line here and jump on the ledges to find some melon and another ledge with a 1-up guarded by a clown. Now we just need to find Robyn who is standing at the top of the Ferris Wheel to the far right. ------------------- Level 10: The Cabin ------------------- [FA: LVL-10] Ah, another scrolling level, except this one scrolls upwards. Run to the right and get up when you can. This is just a race, to be honest, because if you let the screen catch up to you it's instant death, so don't go for the melons or anything if you are running behind. There's also a few choices as you move along, such as jumping to the ledges or moving along the ground. Go for the ledges. The second split you can find a 1-up to the right on the couch, but be quick if you go for it. Keep heading upwards taking the left paths when you can and you'll soon get a black star and exit the cabin. Up here you'll meet the evil Aunt Figg, who will battle you since you escaped the fire. You'll soon find that as you try to roll into you, she'll jump over you and try to hurt you that way. The secret here is to roll towards her, then as she's still in the air roll back the other way, trying to get her to land on your roll. Do this five times and you'll beat her. And that'll be the end of the game! Apparently killing the Aunt with cat rolling made Robyn's dad come back. Good job! ============ Level Codes: ============ [TJ: LVLC] Level 4: Fish, Star, Watermelon, Cheese, Heart.
