Magical Drop Pocket for Neo Geo Pocket Color Copywrite 2001-2006 Version 1.0 by David "OLLIVER" Bullock ================================== =========== Characters =========== ================================== The character you choose will determine the type of drops, and the pattern in which they fall on your opponent's screen. The characters are: Fool Magician Hi-Priestess Hi-Erophant Death Cutie ('Lovers' in Japanese version) Justice Chariot The following characters are available after finishing Story mode on the Hard setting: Hangedman Empress Fortune ================================== ============= Drops ============== ================================== >>> Normal Drops <<< When three or more drops of the same color are connected in a vertical line, they will disappear. Any matching drops connected to this chain will also disappear. >>> Solid Drops <<< When a solid drop is matched with two or more normal drops of the same color, it will use it's magic to make every drop on the screen of that same color disappear. Red = Sword/fire Magic Blue = Cup/water Magic Yellow = Star Magic Green = Staff/wind Magic >>> Ice Drop <<< Ice drops change in to normal drops when three or more normal drops are matched next to an ice drop. All the Ice drops on the screen will then change to the color of the match. >>> Crystal Drop <<< Crystal drops are wild cards, and match with any normal color. When matched, they will release the magic of whatever color it matched with. I.e. match two red drops with a crystal drop, and sword magic will make all the red drops on the screen disappear. >>> Bubble <<< Bubbles appear most often on the Self Challange mode when set on Hard and occasionally on the higher levels of Medium and Easy. They don't do much other than cause brain farts. Picking them up makes them disapear(you can't put them back), droping any number/type of drops on them pops the bubbles. ================================== ============= Points ============= ================================== match 3 - 8pts match 4 - 10pts match 5 - 12pts match 6 - 14pts and so on... *Clear all drops from the screen, including bubbles to get a perfect bounus (see Self Challenge section). *999,999 is the highest possible score. ================================== =========== Story Mode =========== ================================== Choose a character, and play against all the other characters in the game including yourself (all CPU oppenents). Before and after each match is a dialog with your opponent. Unlike the larger versions of the game, you can't see what your opponent is doing, but you can see the CPU character's reaction. You know you're in trouble when they start acting all crazy and happy and start throwing magic at you -_^ There are five difficulty levels. I won't give away the character endings, but I will tell you what happens at the end of the game when you finish it on each difficulty setting. >>> S. Easy <<< screen reads: "Too easy for you? That's what I thought. Ok, show Us how good you really are. Good luck!" >>> Easy <<< screen reads: "Congratulations! Now you can move on to the medium level. It'll get more difficult, but don't give up." >>> Medium <<< Get to see character's ending >>> Hard <<< Get to see character's ending plus Hanging Man, Fortune, and the High Preistes become playable characters (if not already unlocked). >>> S. Hard <<< Get to see character's ending plus Hanging Man, Fortune, and the High Preistes become playable characters (if not already unlocked). ================================== ====== Self Challange Mode ======= ================================== You just play by yourself using the full screen. There are no walls to stop your movement. If your arrow is on the far right hand side of the screen, and you move one space to the right, your arrow will appear on the far left hand side of the screen and vice versa. >>> Easy - 30 levels <<< Perfect bonus points: 5000 (levels 1 - 20) 10,000 (levels 21 - 29) >>> Medium - 100 levels <<< Perfect bonus points: 10,000 (lv 1 - 20) 20,000 (lv 21 - 40) 40,000 (lv 41 - 60) 80,000 (lv 61 - 99) >>> Hard - 100 levels <<< Perfect bonus points: 10,000 (lv 1 - 60) 100,000 (lv 61 - 99) >>> Ranking <<< you are given ranks during play. When the game is over, You're shown the highest rank you achieved, your score, and the level you reached. Ranks will also appear on the screen when you earn a new one. Here are the ranks, from lowest to highest: Flunkey Blockhead Lazy Practice Ouch So-so Not bad Pre-beginner Beginner Good Great Super Awesome Excelent First rate Whiz Professional Super Ace God! Magical * it is possible to skip ranks * level number does not determine rank ================================== ===== Friend Challange Mode ====== ================================== This is versus play. You need the link cable, and another person with Magical Drop Pocket (two things I don't have at the moment). ======================================================== ==== Options (brackets {} indicate default setting) ==== ======================================================== >>> Total Games <<< - 1,{3},5,7,9 - This sets the number of games you need to win during a VS match. >>> Target <<< - 50,100,150,200,{250},NONE - This sets the number of drops you need to clear before winning a VS or Story match. >>> Control <<< - A: CATCH B: RELEASE,B: RELEASE A: CATCH - Toggles the controll buttons >>> Auto Power Off <<< - OFF, ON - Setting this to "ON" will automatically shut the power off after 10 minutes, if the game is left idle. >>> BGM (Background Music) <<< - [character names] - Select the character name, and press 'A' to hear his/her background music. >>> High Score <<< Press 'A' when this is highlighted to view the list of high scores.
