If so, then press on! :) ------------------------------ 1. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 20 Questions Answered ----Why did you write this FAQ? I figure, since I want to purchase this arcade game, why not write a FAQ on it? Since there are no detailed FAQs on this game(or for the original Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, no less), I wanted to be the first. But, I underwent some trials and tribulations uncovering all the truths. ----What trials and tribulations did you have to go through to write this? It is a CLEAR MISNOMER that the internet has EVERYTHING. I ended up searching for hours on end, and translating countless Japanese characters to figure out names of special moves, character names, and such. I got no help, no leads; therefore, I had to do everything myself. Even when I asked for help, I got none. I have written other FAQs as well(Neo-Geo System FAQ, among others), but I guess that to others, that gives grounds for someone to be "conceited". Any matter, it's that demeanor that gives the internet a bad name, and something which I detest. ----What is this game? Is it the same as Jojo's Bizarre Adventure? Well, let me elaborate for a minute on this question. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and this game are different, in that this game has 16 characters, and sub quest games; while the original has 10 characters and only one sub quest game. Besides new cover artwork, not much else is different. The sequel was made, mainly because the PlayStation and Dreamcast includes these characters(5 extra characters) in their versions of "Jojo". ----How come your character names are different than in other FAQs? Because my character names are the real ones from the anime, NOT just taken from the arcade game. That's how I do it, for added realism. And the move names are from the English version of the first Jojo, translations of the second one, and Capcom's recommendation for move names. ----What is the "Stand" system? Since this game CLOSELY follows the 3rd chapter of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, the stand system follows the anime. Your "Stand" is essentially an extension of yourself; if your stand dies, then YOU die.(well, in the anime...see later in this section for the answer) You activate your Stand, and it attacks as if you were attacking your opponent. You can deactivate it as well. Your stand can get attacked as well as you, remember that. Remember Street Fighter's infamous GUARD CRUSH? Well, if your stand dies, you get GUARD CRUSHED, menaing that your opponent can attack you for an instant without any chance of you blocking the attack. Your stand will then start to heal. A lot easier than if the game were 100% true to form of the anime...:) ----Uh-oh, more power bars at the bottom of the screen again.... But, they're not bad, aren't they? Well, these work differently; you can power them up to 9 levels, not 3 like the other Capcom games out there. You know the rule; do a special move and press TWO attack buttons instead of one to do a SUPER COMBO(which is not really a "combo" in itself, but most gamers don't care anyways). ----What is the CHALLENGE mode? Basically, it's a "survival" mode, where instead of regaining your Stand meter and your life meter getting refilled after each match, you pick ONE meter to refill. It can get tough on a higher difficulty setting, believe me. ----Is this game worth it, over the original? If you own the arcade version, and want to upgrade to the "updated" version, in my opinion it is worth it, because of the extra characters. Anime-based games are very character-driven, unlike a Street Fighter or Fatal Fury. So, a minor update to Fatal Fury I wouldn't necessarily go for, but to Jojo I would, since fans of the fighter will LOVE the extra characters because(more than likely) they are anime fans, and anime fans like new characters, new identities. I'm glad people can branch out to richer types of anime, other than Dragon Ball Z and its many iterations. ----Would you recommend this game, other than SF3: 3rd Strike? That is such an unfair pairing, since they are two completely different types of fighting games. SF3: 3rd Strike is getting back some of the tightness of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, but for all practical purposes, it is a flashy, yet standard type fighting game. Most fighting game players will immediately take to it in an arcade. Jojo, is a completely different story. With Jojo, because of its innovative, and true to form Stand system, and original characters, is a winner in my book. However, because it's so different, most see different as "bad", without digging in real deep. Rather than spend a while at Jojo, to appreciate its uniqueness, most will get tired of it and play something else. That is, unless your arcade demographic constitutes anime fans abound, then I would get Jojo for your arcade no matter what. All in all, I prefer Jojo, but in an arcade setting, unless you have lots of anime fans, I'd go for SF3: 3rd Strike for money making. ----Is this the last CPS3 Game? Most people thought Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike was the last CPS3 game, however, Capcom decided to release the update to Jojo's Bizarre Adventure in Japan, as the 6th game released on the CPS3. Will this be the last CPS3 game? I personally don't think so, as this system has a lot of promise. Just look at those graphics! :) ----Well, the PSX and DC versions have the extra characters..... But this FAQ of mine is for the ARCADE VERSION. I own no video game systems; I own many arcade cabinets, and am a high volume seller of Neo-Geo MVS Carts. I go for the arcade version whenever I can. Even though the arcade version of this game costs about $1000 as of 11/27/99, and the DC will cost $50; the arcade is the one I'll take, for reasoning of rapid load time and the right to use it in the arcade, having that arcade feel. I may come across "cold", but that's how the arcade realm works. No matter how many different "story" modes or extra characters one can throw in; give me the arcade version any day of the week! ----I'll bet there are some things changed for America, right? Since this game is not released in America as of 11/28/99, this is not necessary. However, in the event that it is released, I will tell you just what would be changed. Basically, very few things would have to be changed: Vanilla Ice-->Vanilla Iced Chaka Khan-->Chaca Muhammed Abdul-->Avdol Kage Dio-->Shadow Dio Waka-Joseph-->Young Joseph And, the blood rate may be toned down, as Capcom likes to do. ----Who is Hirohiko Araki? Well, you can thank him for bringing this anime series into existence; without his ingenuity and intelligence for art's sake; we would not be discussing Jojo's Bizarre Adventure right now, would we? He's the main artist and director for the anime "Jojo's Bizarre Adventure". And remember, last names are before first names, so the name is Araki Hirohiko. ----Can you find this game for me? Sure I can! If you prepay me in full for $1300, I can get one for you in a week. Remember though, that this will not come out in America, and the price will rapidly depreciate(why I'm trying to hold out buying this as long as I can). If you want arcade games or Neo carts, email me at cmull11217@aol.com, and I can help you out. ----What other FAQs have you written? I have written various FAQs, all listed below, and the ones which I am in the process of making: FAQs I have made, and coming soon: NEO-GEO ------- Neo-Geo System FAQ--110kb Chibimaruko Chan Deluxe Quiz Quiz Daisousasen: The Last Count Down Quiz Daisousasen Part 2: Quiz Meintantei Neo & Geo Quiz King of Fighters Aero Fighters 3 Art of Fighting 3: The Path of the Warrior Breakers Revenge Choutetsu Brikin'ger: Iron Clad Oshidashi Zintrick Pair Pair Wars HYPER NEO-GEO 64 ---------------- Hyper Neo-Geo 64 System FAQ Beast Busters: Second Nightmare Samurai Shodown: Warrior's Rage CAPCOM CPS2 ----------- CPS2 System FAQ--28kb Darkstalkers: Jedah's Damnation Giga Wing Marvel Super Heroes VS Street Fighter CAPCOM CPS3 ----------- CPS3 System FAQ--17kb Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future OTHERS ------ Sega ST-V System FAQ Sega NAOMI System FAQ Taito F3 System FAQ Taito G-NET System FAQ Mahjong Hot Gimmick "Kairakuten" by Psikyo Silicon Graphics Workstation and Server FAQ--90kb IBM AS/400 and RS/6000 FAQ--107kb ----What's Capcom's address so I can tell them to bring out this game out in the USA? Well, to be honest, I don't know if that will work real well, but you can try... Their address is below: Capcom Coin-Op Incorporated 475 Oakmead Parkway Sunnyvale, CA 94086 Phone #: (408)774-0500 Fax #: (408)522-5331 They do welcome and respect your comments, so talk with respect and maturity when you call or write them, please! :) ----Where does "Jojo" in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure come from? Jojo comes from two letters in the first name and two letters in the last name, of each of the main people in each of the 5 chapters of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. See, look at the coincidence below: *I got the above from a website, I am indebted for this information, whose is it? :)* ----Tell me more about the story... I will, down in the "STORYLINE" section. :) ----Why are there a lack of Jojo sites out there? Because most people are infatuated with other types of anime, such as Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z(I know the difference), Pocket Monsters, Digimon, Yugi-Oh Dual Monsters, Rurouni Kenshin, Tenchi Muyo, etc. The more flashy-type anime, but where realism is at an all-time low. That's where the mainstream is at, but if they will just branch out into other types of anime, maybe people will like Jojo a little better. ----What about the codes to access the secret characters? Well, to access Young Joseph and Shadow Dio, beat the game with Joseph and Dio, respectively. There are other rumored characters in the Dreamcast version, but to my knowledge, only the above two exist in the true arcade version. --------------------------- 2. CHARACTER AND MOVE LIST In this section, I give the listing of all characters, and each of their moves and names. I will also give my recommendations and uses for each move, how they work against your opponent and such...below, is my legend for the move list: *as for YOU facing to the right* UP, DOWN, FORWARD, BACKWARD, Dn-fd, Up-fd, Dn-bd, Up-bd --Direction FOR SPECIFIC directions QCB, QCF --Quarter circle back/forward, from down to left or right HCB, HCF --Half circle back/forward, from left or right to inverted direction 360 degrees --move joystick in one full circle(or from right to up, 270 usually works as a 360) LP, MP, FP, any P STAND, START --infamous button layout, START Taunts as usual, STAND button activates the STAND LP is weak attack, MP is medium, FP is fierce Here are some basic moves, to utilize in time of need: FORWARD x2 within a second --the infamous DASH...everyone should know this LP+ MP+ FP --DODGE an attack, but only if you aren't using your stand currently while guarding attack, LP+ MP+ FP --ADVANCE GUARD..I could never get the hang of this..:( any P, followed by any P --RECOVERY in AIR...to not take damage from being THROWN while guarding attack, DOWN, FORWARD, Dn-Fd + any P --GUARD CANCEL, very important, to stop over- aggressive attackers QCF + STAND --APPARITION ATTACK, kind of like a team hit in the corner in SNK's King of Fighters UP, in air, then UP --DOUBLE JUMP, reach heights almost as high as you can in Way of the Warrior for 3DO :) QCB + STAND, then input special moves while holding STAND, and release STAND --called a TANDEM ATTACK; can be quite cumbersome to pull off concerning the holding of the STAND button FORWARD + A, then A --STAND RELEASE for Kakyouin Noriaki, Muhammed Abdul, Alessi, and Jean Pierre Polnareff *I refuse to give "Easy" commands, as I feel playing a game on "Easy" and utilizing special moves with one button defeats the purpose of playing a wonderful, technical fighter. STORYLINE Following, is a summary of the 3rd chapter(one of 5 chapters that this game is based on) of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, and where the characters interact with the story as such. Please read this, as you'll want to follow where the story takes you. Read on, and enjoy! *this is meant if you understand about the lineage of Jojo and its 1st and 2nd chapters* Jojo is different from other anime, in that each character from each chapter are blood related, the anime emphasizes the human mind, forces that transforms spiritual power, and has an extreme sense of realism. In 1989, Joseph Joestar(Jonathan Joestar's son) and his friend Muhammed Abdul traveled to Japan with Joestart's daughter Holly. Holly married a rock star, but Joseph sensed an awakening of an awesome power, the STAND. The STAND is a projection , an extension basically of oneself. Dio awoke, and Holly had awesome power, but she couldn't control it; it was literally eating her alive. They had approximately 30 days to save Holly's life from Dio. Holly's son, Jotaro Kujo, had these awesome powers as well. The crew met up with two ex-villains, Kakyouin Noriaki, and Jean Pierre Polnareff. Formerly under Dio's control, they, with the help of the lovable pooch Iggy, they reach Dio, only to discover that Dio's Stand is invincible. Abdul and Iggy die saving Polnareff from Vanilla Ice, Dio's final henchman, while Kakyouin killed himself when learning the power of Dio's stand. Since Jotaro's stand was the same type as Dio's, he could walk through time when Dio tries to stop time. Jotaro learned to freeze time for an instant, and shattered Dio's body with his attacks. Therefore, that ended the blood-stained feud which started 100 years ago. *Chaka Khan, D'bo, Midler, Alessi, Mariah, Hol Horse, Anubis Polnareff, Pet Shop are side-story characters, and not crucial to the story.* --------------- 4.
