------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------[ VIDEOCART 12: BASEBALL ]------------------------ ---------------------------------[by Ice Queen Zero]--------------------------- ------------------------------------[Channel F]-------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- o---------------------o INTRODUCTION o---------------------o Step right up to the plate and batter up. It's time for a friendly game of good ol' baseball. You and another player duke it out for at leaset nine innings and try to get the most runs by the end of the game and win. o---------------------o DISCLAIMER o---------------------o Videocart 12: Baseball and its characters are trademarks of Fairchild and all copyrights belong to them. They represent the offense and defense respectively. Offense ------- Plunge Down - Swing Bat Defense ------- Plunge Down - Normal Pitch ->Up: Slowball ->Down: Fastball ->Twist Left/Twist Right: Curveball Left/Right = Move Outfield Both players must Plunge Down to start the inning. MESS EMULATOR Offense ------- Button 1 (Plunge Down) - Swing Bat Defense ------- Button 1 (Plunge Down) - Normal Pitch ->Up: Slowball ->Down: Fastball ->Button 3/4 (Twist Left/Twist Right): Curveball Left/Right = Move Outfield Both players must press Button 1 (Plunge Down) to start the inning. o---------------------o GAMEPLAY o---------------------o -This is strictly a two-player game. Sucks I know. I would love to play a game against the computer. -If you are playing this game on the MESS emulator, you may be unaware of how to start the game and will probably think you have a bad rom because there is a red "1" in the middle of the screen that don't want to go anywhere. Both players must press their respective button 1s at the same time which are equivalent to the controllers' "Plunge Down" functions. If you are playing the real thing and didn't have the manual, same thing applies here as well. -Once the inning starts, the green player will bat first and the blue player will step to the mound. The pitcher can change the type of pitch in midflight using the cardinal directions. Up will make it a slowball and down will make it a slowball. Use left or right to make to curve it in that direction. You can make it a curveball or slider depending if you want it to go towards or away from the plate in those retrospects. -You can also curve the ball left and right as the ball is still flying just to mess with the batter's mind. -If the ball crosses over the plate without a swing, batter misses the swing, or hits a foul ball it counts as a strike and three strikes result in an out. But if the batter fouls on strike two, it will not count as a strike unless it was a bunt foul as far as real baseball is concerned. There is no bunting so no need to worry about a bunt strike out. -An out is also recorded if one of the players if a hit ball touches one of the players. Three outs and players change sides. -If the ball fails to touch the plate, it results in a ball. Four balls and the batter will advance to first place automatically. Same goes if the pitcher hits the batter with the ball (Hit by Pitch). -The batter's only function is to hit the ball into an open area at the top of the screen without it being caught. Single (1 base), Double (2 bases), Triple (3 bases), or Homerun (all bases) are random. -Runs are scored by making it to home plate. -After 3 outs, players switch sides. -When the blue player gets 3 outs. A new inning starts. -If the green player is trailing after 8 innings. The player must tie or take the lead by the time three outs are made or the game will end there. The blue player will go up to bat in the 9th inning if trailing or tied. The blue player needs to take the lead to win the game. -If tied after the 9th inning, extra innings are played until there is a winner depending on if the blue player can take the lead or not. o---------------------o CREDITS o---------------------o Fairchild for making the game.
