Although comparing this game with today's shooter makes this game look ancient, it's still a solid game to play. Graphically it's better than Contra, players and enemies are well detailed, the background looks impressive and futuristic. Sound is ok as it's just your generic shots, explosions and screams, but the game does offer some good music that you won't forget quickly. In most shooters there is very little or no story to the game, as they are not an important element to the gameplay. Still, having a good story does makes the game sounds more fun to play. The story of Cyber-Lip is pretty basic, the idea has been used many time. "AD 2016" The federal government, facing an increased population crisis, approves development of a space colony project. The federal government appointed colony C05 as the military fortress. Many military androids were sent there. They were found to be defective, numerous problems occurred in the military. "AD 2020" The federal government installed a super computer in colony C05 to control the androids. Android military troops were made and trained against the invading alien. The federal military had reduced their soldiers and became weakened. "AD 2030" The fruits of man's intelligence have gone out of control. 3. Controls The controls for the game are fairly simple. Use the left and right direction to move the player left and right press up to aim upward and press down to crouch. The A button fires your currently selected weapon at the current direction. The B button makes the player jumps; hold up and press the jump button to perform a high jump; finally hold down and press the jump button to make the player slide forward, which is equal to about 5 paces, useful for quick advances. The C button cycles through all of your currently available weapons. 4. Weapons/Power-ups This section will explain your main form of offence. Your character is armed with a multi-purpose rifle that can simulate different weapon after it has acquired ammo for that weapon. There are a total of 6 weapons in the game. Normal Type: Standard energy bullet Ammo: Unlimited This is your default weapon; it shoots a small energy bullet that travels fairly quick, while doing light damage. A total of 4 bullets can be fired at once. Although damaged done by this weapon is light, it does have unlimited ammo, allowing you to save your other weapons for harder areas while still able to defend yourself. Auto Type: Standard energy bullet Ammo: 400 This is an improved version of your default. It fires the same bullet, but now the player can hold down the fire button and it will fire automatically. Having the largest ammo count in the game is also a plus, which allows you to engage multiple enemies without worrying running low on ammo. Fire Type: Energy flame Ammo: 100 This weapon is capable of rapid fire just like the Auto. The flame does medium damage, when rapid fired it can quickly take down tough opponents, a good weapon to use for weakening bosses. Be careful as it has a low ammo count so use wisely. Wide Type: Energy Pellet Ammo: 200 The name says it all; this weapon is designed to hit at wide ranges. The bullets fired spreads out like a shotgun, covering many places. Best used against aerial opponents as their approach are sometime difficult to avoid and when jumping to shoot them is not an option. Bazooka Type: Explosive rocket Ammo: 6 The most powerful weapon in the game, that's why it has such a low ammo count. This should be used to destroy bosses quickly, so don't waste them on a single opponent. Grenade Type: Explosive grenade Ammo: 20 The second most powerful weapon. The grenade is slightly less powerful than the bazooka, but still powerful enough to take out most opponents in one hit. The grenades are thrown in an arc, or straight down if the player hangs on the ceiling. Use it to back up your bazooka in case it runs out of ammo and the boss is still alive. Core Bot Type: Shield This is your basic shield in the form of a rotating ball. It can shield you against light gunfire and take down weak androids. The shield can take around 4-5 standard bullets before blowing up. A maximum of 4 can be collected to form a complete circle for maximum protection. I personally don't like it as bullets can slip through and hit you, and more than often you'll be trying to protect it rather than it protecting you. Ammo Room On most stages when you come across the first door you see with the word "In" this is the ammo room. The room is filled with ammos for all weapons. Upon entering the room all of the weapons you currently possess will be reloaded to full. When you know an ammo room is up ahead, don't hesitate to use any weapon as much as possible before heading in to reload. 5. Walkthrough Stage 1: Old town area You begin by walking out of the transport vehicle; after the announcer gives you the Go signal the player feeds a magazine into his rifle and its time to rock and roll. Start by moving to the right, androids with pistols will appear on both sides, most will not shoot so no worries. Shoot down all that gets in your way. When you see the park sign jump up on the top of the building and take out another androids walking towards you to get an Auto. On the building is a machine gun android, this one is more resistant and take two shots to take down, occasionally it shoots a burst of 4 bullets, still not a real threat. Defeat it to get a bazooka, take out the android hanging on the ceiling and jump up there yourself. Move across and take out any androids below as some might suddenly jump up and hit you. When you reach the end of the ceiling, fall down and continue forward to meet another machine gun android, which drops a Wide when defeated. Jump over the obstacles and two jetpack androids appear. They are very annoying as they will try to get as close to you as possible, then fire a shot and leave. Use the wide and you shouldn't have any problem killing them. Keep moving forward until a chopper comes down, time for a mini boss. Mini boss: Transport chopper The chopper hovers above you and two occupants comes out. An android that stands in the middle and throws grenades from time to time while a machine gun android stands to the right sweep the ground with bullets. I recommend switching auto and take out the one closest to you. Another one will replace the fallen one, after both are defeated twice, the chopper leaves. Moving on, another machine gun android is on top of the short building, destroy it and it will leave a core bot. One of the android on the bottom has an Auto. Proceed forward and you'll see androids firing from windows. You can choose to move across the ceiling and take them out or try it from below. Halfway across you'll see a door that says "In". This is the ammo room; enter it and all your current weapons are reloaded to max. After reloading weapons, move forward, you'll see a yellow android on the bottom firing a bazooka; this is the most resistant android as it takes 3 hits to destroy. Keep going until the screen stops again for another mini boss. Mini boss: Jumping cannon A large cannon robot appears. The robot jumps high into the air and lands. When it lands the 3rd time, it charges and fire a single laser shot that can be avoided by high jumping. Normal shot is sufficient enough to take it down as it can't take too many hits. After taking down the easy mini boss, simply go towards another door marked "In" where the boss awaits. Boss: Bio Mutant The battle takes place in a giant room with three platforms on the left side, also the ceiling is climbable. The boss covers the right side of the screen. As soon as the battle begins, the head of the boss will extend forward. It first moves to the top, pauses and launch a fireball; then it moves down to middle level but suddenly lashes out at where the player is standing, jump to avoid being hit; after the lash attack it moves to the lowest level and launches another fireball towards the player, the head will then move back to the top level and the pattern will repeat. All weapons are effective, if you want to beat it quick just use 3 bazookas and its down. Stage 2: Colony C05 Coming out from the transport vehicle, proceed right and take out the gun turrets on the ceiling. A couple of androids approaches, with one carrying a Wide and another carrying a core bot. Jump on the top of the building and destroy the grenade android for a Grenade, use it to destroy the bazooka android below, which drops a bazooka. The machine gun android on top contains another core bot, while a new type of android approaches. This one moves forward while firing a flamethrower, it has quite a bit of range so destroy it as fast as possible. Resistance is on par with the bazooka android. It leaves a flame; use it to take down another machine gun android and the last flame android in the game. Grab both the Auto and Flame and continue on. Two small flying robots will come from the background, after appearing in the foreground they drop a bomb they carry and leave. Shoot them if you want but I suggest avoiding. While the robot is dropping the bomb, the jumping cannon returns. Use the same strategy to defeat it, that's the last time you'll see it. Keep going until the screen stops and the transport chopper appears once again. Mini boss: Transport chopper The chopper from stage 1 returns. This time in addition to the two occupants you fought in stage 1 you'll get an android that drops down and walk towards you. Use the same strategy as before and it should suffice. Take out the two occupants twice and the chopper leave for good. After taking care of the chopper, two more bomb carrying robot appears, avoid or destroy them. Then a big android drops in. Time for another mini boss. Mini boss: Android leader The leader attacks by throwing an explosive barrel which a fellow android brings to him. The barrels explodes into a small flame wave, be sure not to touch both the flame and the barrel. Use your bazooka and hit him, one hit will send him falling backward but he'll get up again and continue the attack. Use one more bazooka to put him out of his misery. After finishing another easy mini boss, some jetpack android approaches from the sky, two androids on top of the building both have Wide. Head into the ammo room and reload weapon. After reloading, jump on the railing and move across while taking down androids blocking your way and enter the building that leads to the second boss. Boss: Battle Tank This battle takes place in the same rooms as the first boss battle. The tank approaches from the right. This fight can be easy or hard depending on how you want to play it. If you want to take it easy, just use 3 bazookas and the tank is out of commission. If that's not possible, which I don't see why not as you just reloaded all weapons in the ammo room prior to fighting the boss, use a quick weapon like Auto and fire at the wheel of the tank as soon as it enter. If you're quick you can blow the wheels off and the tank will not be able to move at all. Here is the best part, if you destroy the wheel before the tank fully arrives on screen, it won't fire at all, allowing you an easy kill. If you decided to challenge the tank in a fair fight then be prepared. Once the tank is in position it activates and all weapon will be brought online. The tank has a machine gun mounted near the wheel that shoots 3 bullets. A launched mounted on the top fires 4 small energy shots that drop down. First take down the wheel to restrict its movement, then stay at the lower level and watch the gunfire from both guns and avoid while firing with your strongest weapon. From this point on, every time a boss is beaten, you'll go into an elevator that takes you to the next stage. The elevator asks you to choose whether to go up or down. If you choose correctly, the elevator takes you straight to the next stage. If you choose the wrong one, the elevator will display "Danger" and drops to the lowest floor. Where you have to take a detour through the sewers to get to another elevator that takes you to the next stage. I can't give the correct choice as its random each time; you have a 50/50 chance of getting the right one so it's just a matter of luck. Also there are 3 variations in the sewer level. I will explain each one so I don't have to repeat it again. 1st variation After exiting the screen scrolls to the right so head left. You'll see a giant mechanical walker standing in the water. You'll need to stand on it as it walks across the water. There are gun turrets on the ceilings, a fish monster that jumps out from the water and expands before falling back in, and a snake-like mutant that flies around the screen or comes out from the water; they have a weak spot on the head so shoot there to destroy them. After a while the walker reaches the other side and stops. Several parasite bombs advance towards you; they are homing and will continuously home in on you until they explode. Shoot them down and move forward until you see a door marked "In". That will take you to the next level. But first take out the spider bot walking near the door; they occasionally throw out 4 green balls so watch out for it. 2nd variation Similar to the first one, except right after exiting the elevator you'll have to jump over a gap, which contains fish monsters. After getting on the walker, it begins to walk but stops when your half way across. If you stand on the walker you'll be eventually pushed into the muddy water so high jump onto the ceiling above and move across as parasite bomb approaches, the rest is identical to the first one. 3rd variation Very small change. There is no gap after exiting the elevator, and the walker walks all the way to the other side. The only difference is that there is a small part of the ceiling half way across that you can grab onto; just ignore it as it gives you no advantage. Stage 3: Construction Sector There are multiple levels on this stage as well as many doors where androids come out so be sure not to stand at the door for too long. Simply go right and kill any androids that stand in your way and be aware of the gun turrets on the ceiling. After a while the floor will end and you'll need to jump on to the conveyer belt beside the floor. The conveyer constant moves left so keep moving to avoid falling off, several flying turrets appear from the top and fire a spread of 4 bullets. Eventually the conveyer belt will end as well, and you'll need to jump and grab on the nearby neon sign. As you move forward parasite bombs comes from the right, use your wide to take care of them and jump on another conveyer belt. Jump on solid ground again and enter the ammo room, continue forward and get on the moving elevator. Jump to the other side to proceed to the final section. Two large spiked hydraulics comes down trying to crush you, maneuver in between them and get through. Take out the machine gun android and enter the door that leads to the next boss. Boss: Bio Mutant Version 2 The battle takes place in a large room with the player hanging on the ceiling. Below you'll see a portion of a giant mutant. The mutant has an eye in the middle, that's its weak point. The boss attacks by sending out green energy rings from the eye; since your hanging on the ceiling you have limited mobility so stay away from corners to prevent being cornered by the rings. Some time the eye will pop out of the torso and move around while firing rings. The boss can also suddenly dash up trying to knock you off; the only way to avoid it is to stay in between the space where the limbs connect to the torso. For this fight I do not recommend using bazooka as for some strange reason it cannot hit the eye. Instead use Auto or Normal to defeat it. Lastly just a reminder, whatever you do, don't press the jump button or you'll fall off and die a senseless death, but I guess you already know that. Stage 4: Elevator After coming out of the elevator, you'll appear on another elevator that begins to rise up the shaft. There is quite a bit of gun turrets on the ceilings, a couple of parasite bombs at the beginning, some machine gun androids on platforms, four jetpack androids, few bomb dropping robot, and finally some spider bots walking around. Ride up while avoiding and destroying everything in sight until you come to a building at the very top with a door, where a tough boss awaits. Boss: Flying Turrets The battle takes place in a giant room with a pipe at the top right corner and one at the bottom left. After a few seconds a line of 14 turrets comes out. The turrets attack by firing a bullet downward. They move in a snake like pattern, curving at the edge of the screen. After the fourth curve they will be at the lowest level and you must duck to avoid being hit. After entering the lowest pipe, they appear from the highest one again and the pattern repeats. You'll notice that the last turret is red; this is the command turret, if it's destroyed all the turrets blow up. Otherwise you'll have to destroy each and every single one, which is a waste of time and ammo. The best way to fight this boss is to wait for it to curve the second time then start throwing grenades upwards, hopefully one of them can destroy the command turret. Keep in mind that the turrets travel faster as you destroy more of them. Stage 5: Alien Living Quarter This is my favorite stage in the game. The background shows exotic building made by the aliens. The first thing you'll notice is a giant alien. The alien will spit out a smaller alien that runs towards you, which can be killed in one shot. After spiting out several smaller aliens it retreats. At this point beware, the smaller aliens will come out from the ground and runs towards you. Use your Auto to safely clear them out. You'll approach the only building that's different than the rest. It also has an ammo room. Upon exiting the ammo room, you'll notice the road ends and a series of pillars appears. Jump from pillars to pillars to get across. You have to dear with some flying alien while jumping the pillars. Some will open fire at you so shoot them down before that happens. Half way through there will be some spider bots that drops Auto, Bazooka, Grenade, and a core bot. Continue across and when you reach the rock that block the gap ahead, jump on the ceiling there and move across, look out for flying aliens that approaches. Landing on solid ground, you'll see another one of the giant alien spitting out smaller aliens, some more appear from the ground before you reach a big door into a cave like building. Boss: Alien Head This is the hardest boss in the entire game as there are so many things on screen that it's hard to keep track of everything. When the battle begins you'll see two nests on the ceiling, if you stay under them they'll send out several small pieces of flesh that can't be shot. The flesh travels all the way to the bottom of the screen before returning. Your main target however, is the long alien head that moves back and forth on the right side of the screen. Below the head is another head, only this one can't be destroyed. This one occasionally moves forward and spits out four smaller aliens, then it retracts and after a while repeats. The main head occasionally launches a fireball similar to the one used by the first stage boss. The easiest way to beat this almost impossible boss is to stand in the space between the two nests. Now just jump up and shoot the head, stop to take out any aliens; don't forget to dodge the fireball too. If you happen to destroy both of the nests, then the action will pick up a bit. The aliens will be spitted out faster, and the head will launch two fireballs at once. Stage 6: Corridor to computer room We're on the second last stage and it's fairly easy. This stage takes place in a huge room that keeps moving upward. To advance upward without falling behind you'll need to jump on the moving elevators and various platforms. One or two androids are on each elevator, a couple of machine gun androids are on platforms. Carefully advance upward, don't forget to collect weapon if they're running low. At the end of the area is a door that leads to the second last boss. Boss: Attack Chopper The boss appears from the right and hovers up and down above you. It only has two attacks. It can launch 6 missiles in 6 directions; the missiles are not homing so don't worry about getting hit. Its other attack is to drop the bomb located under the front of the chopper, upon touching the ground the bomb explodes into wave of fire that's easily avoided. You can use your bazooka to finish it quickly, but I recommend you save them as you'll need them afterwards, so use them at your own risk. If you choose not to use bazooka, then your Auto would work great here. Stage 7: Computer Room After exiting the elevator just relax and let the screen take you forward. You'll appear in front of 8 doors. 6 of these doors lead you to bosses you fought previously, 1 door leads to the final ammo room, and the other door leads to the final boss. To enter a door, you must wait for the word "In" appears on the door before you can enter. Hopefully you can get into the ammo room for one last reload before taking on the final boss, especially if you used the bazooka on the last boss. I can't give you the exact location of which door leads to where as its random, so just go around until you enter a room you never seen before and its time for the final battle. Boss: Cyber-Lip Well, here it is, the super computer that controlled everything to get you, and its time for payback. The battle takes place in a giant room but there are no floors; don't worry, your player is flying with his jetpack so no problem there. The boss approaches from the right; its outside is covered with flesh while the computer is in the center, with a metal lip on it. I guess that where the boss gets its name. Anyway, the boss is surrounded by 8 rectangular blocks that acts as shields protecting the boss. The shield constantly rotates, making normal fire impossible to get through. From time to time the shield will expand outward attempting to hit you before returning. The boss itself attacks by sending out 4 round bullets at you. Here is where your bazooka shines, use it all at the boss. Not only will the bazooka do heavy damage to the shields, but the explosion upon contact will go through the shields and damage the boss as well. After using all your bazookas, all of the shields should be eliminated. The boss however is still alive, but don't worry as it'll be over soon. Use grenades at the boss, 4 to 5 grenades is all you need to shut this super computer down for good. Congratulation, you have just saved mankind from destruction from the evil super computer. With it none the earth is safe once again, or is it... 6.
