--------------------------------------------------------------------- Spin Master: The Miracle Adventure FAQ/Walkthrough By Lord Omega Yagami --------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi, Welcome to my walkthrough for Spin Master. I just wanted to make a quick and simple FAQ for this quick and simple, yet fantastic game. This is my first, but not last FAQ so bear with me, sit back, and enjoy the ride. TABLE OF CONTENTS 1-Introduction 2-How to Play 3-Weapon Guide 4-Enemy Guide 5-Walkthrough Level 1 6-Walkthrough Level 2 7-Walkthrough Level 3 8-Walkthrough Level 4 9-Walkthrough Level 5 10-Ending 11-All That Other Stuff 1-Introduction Welcome to the world of Spin Master, a great fun game made by Data East for the almighty NeoGeo system way back in 1993. Spin Master was kinda like Contra with some Mario thrown in. It featured large, colorful sprites and happy backgrounds. The game was really fun for one player and even more fun for two. My only complaints are that it is too short and easy, but it's definitely worth playing. The story starts with our heroes Johny and Tom chasing after the evil Doctor, who had kidnapped the sweet Mary and stole a valuable treasure map. Now the two of you must go rescue Mary and collect the pieces of the map to find the long-lost treasure. Johny and Tom are pretty much the same: little bodies, big head, and blonde hair. The only difference is that Tom has a big cowboy hat. Also, the Doctor reminds me alot of Dr. Wily. I heard somewhere that his name is DePlayne, which really doesn't fit in with the likes of Johny, Tom, and Mary. If you have heard something else, please tell. You can contact me at . 2-How to Play Rather simple. Press A to use your weapon, a yo-yo at first. You can aim in all directions. Press B to jump. Note you can kill your enemies by jumping on them. Press C to use your Super attack (uses one bomb). Hold A to charge your attack, usually just making a bigger attack. Press down B when on top of something to jump down. Press down A + B to do a sliding attack. 3-Weapon Guide Throughout the game, you can get different weapons. Here is a guide to them: Weapon Charge Super Note Yo-Yo Yo-Yo Spin Ultra Yo-Yo Spin Your basic weapon Boxing Glove Big Glove Double Glove Drop Can send enemies bouncing off walls Bomb Big Bomb Super Bomb Wait too long and a Super bomb will kill you Double Stars Shadow Image Lots of Dudes Fun to watch this super Ice Four Way Ice Blizzard Probably most powerful super Fire Double Flame Fire Storm Also very powerful Missile Triple Missile Beam Storm The rarest of them all Other items: Bomb icon adds one more super. Fruit adds more life. Money is worth 1,000 to 10,000 points. 4-Enemy Guide Green Terrorist - the normal enemy, nothing special Red Terrorist - throws knives from a distance Blue Terrorist - throws bombs Big Terrorist - larger terrorist, may take 3 to 5 shots to take down Vultures - fly around with treasure chests, bombs, rocks, or may just swoop Scorpions - little guys, shoot venom Scarab Beetle - huge beast that comes out of the quicksand Bats - like vultures but in caves Mummys - come out of caskets, have long arms and take a few hits to kill Crabs - little guys, they don't do much of anything but there's alot of them Turtles - Koopas, anyone? They look and act like them. Kick their shells Blue Fish - jump out of water Red Fish - more aggressive form of fish Blue Islander - the same as the Green Terrorist Red Islander - throws spears Vipers - tiny little punks who lunge at you Ghost - appear then disappear Statues - much like terrorist but take 3 hits to kill Dragon Head - not really an enemy but a flame thrower 5-Walkthrough Level 1 The Airport The first level is simple and really straightforward. The only parts you have to watch out for are the pipes in the hangar where terrorists continually crawl out. After awhile, you'll be blasted onto a train where you'll fight the first boss. Boss 1- The Hovercraft You'll always see the doctor right before a boss fight. In this battle, he is in the front of the train as the engine detaches and flies overhead. He'll fly back and forth across the screen, dropping enemies and bombs. Avoid the bombs, kill the enemies, and attack upward to beat him. Not too hard. 6-Walkthrough Level 2 Egypt In this level, you'll meet the scorpions, who you'll have to duck down to hit. Also, you'll notice that there is alot of quicksand. Try to stay out of it because it will really slow you down. Later, two pyramids will raise up with scorpions on each side. This is a good place to use a super if you haven't already. At the end, there is a giant scarab beetle in the sand. You can kill him, but it's better to avoid him. The Tomb This level puts you on a runaway mine cart. You can still do everything you normally could (except slide?) so the enemies are taken care of the same way you normally would. Just watch out for bats. The Interior Tomb Here, you'll encounter mummys, which aren't too big of a problem. The real problem is climbing up the shaft at the end of the level, which is made very hard by the flames coming out of the walls and floor. This is one of the hardest parts of the game. Fight your way to the top to fight the second boss. Boss 2- Quatre Cobra There are four baskets above you where giant cobras would come out. Sometimes they'll come straight down and sometimes they'll come from the sides. Sometimes just one will come, sometimes all four will come. Either way, your supers would make short work of them. They aren't too hard, either. 7-Walkthrough Level 3 The Great Wall of China Another basic level. But it introduces the turtles that were taken straight out of Mario. Hit them twice and they go into their shells and charge at you. But you can jump on them to kick them back. Nothing special here, just same old, same old. The River I don't know China all that well, but I never pictured a raging river like this right next to the wall. Anyway, this level is kinda like the mine cart level, as you are in a little boat. Here, you'll meet the fish, which can be really annoying sometimes. Also, watch out for the water geysers. You cannot ride them and they hurt. At the end of the river, you'll see the evil doctor, and you know what that means. Boss 3- The Ancient Dragon The Doc will summon him out of the water. He looks tough, but he isn't all that bad. He'll usually come straight out of the water, shoot at you a few times, then fly up. He'll either dive back down or fly across, dropping rocks on you. Your supers will decimate him quickly. He is really very easy. 8-Walkthrough Level 4 The Amazon River In this level, you'll meet the islanders. No, I not talking about Alexei Yashin and Mike Peca, but rather just the regular enemies in local clothing. This level is pretty hard because water is constantly lowering and rising. If you step in the water, you'll get hurt. Of course, the enemies can be in the water as much as they want. You'll be safe on high ground and on the wooden boxes that float. But you'll still have to move pretty quickly. The Amazon Jungle That's better. This is basically the same level, just without the water. The only new thing I really have to tell you is that the totem poles can slow you down. You just need to hit them a few times before you can pass. At the end, the ground will collapse and you will fall to the next stage. The Cave You'll spend most of your time here sliding down the slanted rocks. Make sure you grab all the power-ups at the beginning. This is also kinda like the mine car level, except faster and harder. Otherwise, you have done this before. At the end, get ready for another boss. Boss 4- Slimer You'll come to two levels and a huge ghost will appear in the middle. He'll float toward you. Get in a safe place and whack him alot. He'll then turn into nine smaller ghosts. Kill the fake ghost and he'll stay small a bit longer and then grow big again. Keep repeating and don't be afraid to use your supers. 9-Walkthrough Level 5 Ancient Rome This is it, the final level. Be prepared. If you made it this far all right, it shouldn't be much of a problem. The new enemies are living statues. They are the same old enemies, but take three hits to kill. The only hard parts about this level are the moving columns, but if you have played a lot of Mario in your day, this shouldn't be much of a problem. The Underground Ruins This place is harder. There are a few paths you can take here all the way through. Just watch out for the constantly pouring acid. You also come to a few walls in this level you have to destroy. And finally, there are some more moving pillars. Same deal as before, just be especially careful of the spikes. The Elevator You are almost there, and what a better way to end the game than in an elevator level? You have a little platform that is the exact size of an arcade screen (hmm?) that goes up and enemies constantly fall on you. You just need to watch out for the spike platforms above you, most of which you can destroy. Twice you'll have to pick a side to go on and do the same thing in just a smaller screen. When you get to the top, get ready for the final, and hardest, boss. The Final Boss - The Spin Master You'll see a giant statue without a head and three platforms that you can walk on. There are two power-ups at the top. The final boss is a giant monster that can change heads. Off-topic Note: The Romans really built statues with interchangeable heads. The hardest part about him is that he is so big, he's hard to avoid, even with the three levels. The First head is a Dragon Head that breathes fire. Next it's the Cyclops Head that jumps up, causing rocks to fall from above. Then it's the Medusa Head that shoots lasers out of its eyes. Then the Genie Head spits out tons of weaker statues. And finally, the Doctor in his little space ship attaches himself to the statue's body. He can shoot his machine gun at you or take off and drop bombs on you. It's hard to run in these battles, so you just have to hit him with everything you've got. Just remember, he has five whole boss life bars, so you may have to save your supers and use them wisely. After awhile, he should fall. Congrats, you have saved Mary and Beaten Spin Master: The Miracle Adventure! 10-Ending Mary thanks you for saving her. Now you have the map completed. You open it up and it says press A,B, or C. Pick one. It's completely random, but you may end up with all the treasure you ever wanted, or you may end up finding a monstrous beast inside. Either way, the credits roll. Those are the two endings I've seen. Maybe there is a third one. If you seen it, have any questions, or know something I missed, please e-mail me. 11-All That Other Stuff Feel free to use my guide for your own personal use.
